The Who originally started in the summer of 1961 as The Detours by guitarist Roger Daltry who then recuited bass guitarist John Entwistle. John suggested adding additional guitarist Pete Townshend to the five-piece band who also had Doug Sandom as drummer and Colin Dawson as singer. Colin left the band & Roger took over. A rival band came into existance in 1964 which was also named The Detours. The Who name was officially adapted & then Sandom had to drop out. Keith Moon took over as the drummer & they became the band we all love until...

Keith Moon died in 1978 by an overdose of sleeping pills. He was replaced by Kenny Jones.
