Mexico real estate?

Has anyone tried/done this? Mexico always seems pretty shady to me, but it might be good investment property if you dont' wind up getting robbed.

Depends on where you are in Mexico. It works out for us, we have a condo on the second floor in Cancun and we have bars on the windows and stuff, but no problems, our friends live on the third floor and they've had no problems either. I'm sure if you're in the shady part of town anywhere you're gonna have problems.

I'm more concerned about getting ripped off on the deal. I've heard horror stories about guys buying houses down there and then having the government just give the land to some mexican guy who claimed ownership of it.

That place is *really* corrupt, but pretty! So I'm torn.

The story about the government giving the land is true, it does happen. But you can purchase land and homes here with a title company. I live here. I dont onw right now, but we are looking. Hit me on ICQ if you have any questions.
