This post is worthless without pictures of the naked babes on the beach

fischi 02-07-2005 11:25 AM

This Gigapxel hype is pure bullshit.
The guy just scans a large format negative, so what?
1000īs of photographers have done that before.
That is not a technical breakthrough, i wouldnt even consider
that as an 'idea'.

BRISK 02-07-2005 11:28 AM

Ha ha - caught the perverts

jigg 02-07-2005 11:33 AM

they're probably filming content :)

Nicky 02-07-2005 11:38 AM

I wont belive this shit till I see the naked babes on the beach! :1orglaugh

brilsmurf 02-07-2005 12:09 PM

why would you need a gigapixel?
to make large billboards?

well, true, this is not a gigapixel "camera", this is scan technology. interesting article nontheless.

it should be noted that 40mb CMOS imagers have been developed for DSLRs and we will probably see them in 35mm full frame format cameras within 18 months. (probably canon or nikon)

the new canon is about 16mb, with much better resolution and ISO capability than any 35mm film---so chemical photography is rapidly becoming obsolete.

the next big hurdle is getting PCs fast enough to do the post-processing these fast cameras can capture.

it will come, and soon.

now if we could only increase human imagination as fast as technology---because 95% of photography now is banal, uninteresting data, and not really worth looking at (porn included).

... and lenses that can handle it.
The Kodak technical pan beats nearly every lens on the market.
