Does anyone do "link exchanges" anymore?
 

It seems like everyone uses a CJ script these days to trade, but I suck monkeyballs at managing traffic with those things, trying to keep prod up and everything... Anyone here do traditional link exchanges, or are those pretty much extinct?

Hard coded links are passé. The man they called Raven used trade links the old fashion way only to get 0-3 visitors per linked site. This was then, this is now.

I understand what you're saying, Raven, but I'm not trying to get 50k/day just to send them around in circles. I'd rather have 5k quality visitors that actually sign up for my sponsors. I don't care if people use a script to track hits in/out easier, but it's hard for a new site like mine to force 500 hits "to get the trade started".

lots of sites do hard link exchanges, and more than 1/2 of the top 20 sextracker sites do as well.

But trading a hard link exchange with an established site is difficult mostly because it's very easy for us to send traffic out and get nothing but promises back. Pretty much the only way to get a big site's attention is to either send them money upfront or traffic for about a week (and lots of it, 3K plus/day) to get noticed and get respected. Personally I get dozens of requests for link trades every day and I ignore all except those that mail me cash or send Large amounts of traffic for over a week. And people who email me before sending the traffic just make me not want to deal with them cause I get way too many traffic promises that never pan out.

Sounds cruel but that's life. I had to do this to get to where I am so I'm milking the cow now.

150,000 hits a day on a counter looks good though. its funny i get my gallery on some of these sites listed near the top and only get 500 views to my gallery in a 24hr period.

that amounts to a tgp with 10,000 visitors a day and 90,000 times that their page was loaded then closed before anyone even clicked on anything.

Sleazydream, I'm nowhere near the type of traffic you deal with on a daily basis, nor do I really want to be. I'm not trying to compete with the "big boys", I just want some good traffic flowing so I can send a few signups to my sponsors and give a little back to my link trades.

Speedy, I agree with you, a lot of people seem to work hard just to increase the number on their counter, and I don't think a lot of them know what to do with all that traffic once they have it.
