Learning linux! Wee! 10 days now and still haven't removed it!
I was going back and forth to Mandrake distros, but it kept pissing me off, so I had to remove it. Now I installed a debian distro (Libranet 2.8.1) and it's great.
I got a video training cd and I'm starting to get understand how working in a console enviroment works. (I used dos a lot back in the days, so it's easy to switch) Anyways, for those of you who have a spare box, I'd recommend giving linux a try. Libranet 2.8.1 is a great distro. The installation is 2 CDs, I am running it on my laptop. |
Uh why? Besides that its a "cool" thing to say.

I say you stick to posing!

Hasn't everyone done this already? I mean, learning to work in a console environment? It's just not practical to do, unless you are planning on being a Tech Support Rep for a hosting company, or plan on setting up your own servers. Yeah, sure, fuck around with it, but what's the point?
|
The point is to say goodbye forever to shite microsoft-induced headaches like virii, trojans, backdoors, popups, spyware blah blah
Or Mac OS X is a better choice to keep out of the terminal environment |
and to not have to pay for your OS
|
I'm planning on installing Free BSD on a spare machine so I can get better with server stuff. I've used Mandrake before but didn't really care for it.. so I'm dreading trying Free BSD.. :Oh crap
