International Translations can improve signups!
 

Some sites like http://www.penilesecrets.com and others have options to translate there site into a different language. As anyone got any experiences on whether this is effective or actually decreases signups? as a gateway page may be needed?

I haven't tried it yet, but i'm sure it helps.
maybe not for credit card signups, but sure for dialers, for free signups, per email programs....

You can target ads based on country/language. I target ads based on operating system sometimes and other things as well. You can do it with Javascript and sometimes .htaccess and SSI.

non-us traffic is not shitty at all...
they don't like to use credit cards online, but they still can use dialers, they can join some per e-mail program or so... you just have to filter it.

Check out this program... I am not EXACTLY sure how it works... we are gonna try it though. It alows you to use all of your existing sponsors... it just filters out foreign traffic and sends them to foreign sponsors...

No, foreign traffic is not shit. If you
get good translations and use local billing
services you will be amazed how much money
can be made with foreign traffic.
The problem is, that it´s pretty hard to get
good translations. Babelfish or anyone who
does not work in the industry won´t help
much.
If you don´t want to translate your site,
find some webmasters who work in the foreign
markets and ask them which sponsor they
use.
There are people making money of traffic from
poland :) It can be done with local billing
options and foreign content....

I can offer translations in Asian languages such as Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Japanese and Thai.

The Japanese market is especially very lucrative. Depending on the type of site, Japanese traffic can be even better than the US.

Korean traffic is also good.

My hint is that if you want to increase Asian signup, you should at least offer different translations in your signup forms. A majority of Japanese surfers doesn't even have basic English knowledge. They're surfing the English sites the same way we'd surf through Japanese sites.

I sell Thai movies and get a substantial amount of orders from Japan and Korea. So it's just bullshit that non US traffic is shit.
