Do you water cool your CPU?

I have heard good things about it, does anyone do it?

ssp 02-05-2005 06:57 AM

Modding computers is only for pimply teenage virgins.

webcrawler 02-05-2005 07:04 AM

Too risky. I've seen how it works. I won't dare try it. :warning

Unless your overclocking or what to have less noise watercooling has no purpose.

MickeyG 02-05-2005 09:37 AM

the noise aspect of the fans has made me consider water cooling several times. Then I find out the cost and figure I'll just deal with the fans.

I don't think that's the original thread since it was HUGE. The link to it was spreading on the Internet like the worst virus, it bogged down their whole server.
I read the whole thing when it happened and at first I thought it was a joke, but when it continued for pages and he really made it sound like he was crushed, then I actually believed him =)

Im no where near a geek, atleast I dont fit the stereotype, Im not a pimply teenage virgin either, rolling in at a whooping 26 and I have a water cooled system I built myself.

2 things, its not as quiet as you think it is, depends on your water pump though, and you have to break it apart, clean it every few months, then you have to put anti algae additives in the water ever so often to keep it from growing, yes even in a closed system algae grows and it will kill your thermal rating.

On top of that you have to make damn sure you set it up right and have no leaks, if you miss this one, you can fry your cpu, vid card and whatever else you have it hooked to.

Me I am as of right now, back on a cpu fan, atleast until monday. My pump straight up burnt, melted the plastic housing and everything. I was smart enough when I installed it all to drill drain holes in the bottom on my pc just incase. and it saved my ass! New pump should be in on monday so I'll have her all set back up.

So now your asking why in the hell are you going to water cool it again! Because it makes my pc run cooler than hell and when it runs cool it performs alot better. Alot of people think that when their shit is acting up, its because of a file or program on their pc. Water cool your stuff and see how well it does!

Risky? If you use ghetto parts sure it is, but there are many safe products nowadays for the WC market...

newbreed 02-05-2005 10:50 AM

My latest computer came with a water cooling system already in it, the Shuttle.
