Important - GEOIP - causing delays?

Are you experiencing big delays with your geoip sites, like 5-10 second delays for searching the database? Maybe I am doing something wrong here but this is TOO slow...... :(

It can be that slow. They need more and faster servers.

If you're doing it right, it's located on your own server, your own database. So it should take the same amount of time to load up a link to a gallery as it does a geoIP banner.

I don't have any delays. In what way are you doing the geo search and which DB?

I know. But i presume that he is using a third party service. Or like the banners from ifriends. Those are real slow sometimes.
If you run it on your own server there shoudnt be a problem ( if its configured right and the scripts are ok. )

No, this isnt a third party service or anything. We are using the maxmind free ip country package (mysql).

Then it's probabably your mysql that isn't configured properly to handle it.

I prefer mod_geoip myself.

The installation and usage is very straight forward. Never had any problems with it (used it for more than 2 years).
