What could you do to help in this case? (story)
 

Some days ago I was waiting to make a call outside of one of this phone boxes....an elder woman was using it and had her grandchild aside her. She was talking to some friend or relative and was saying her sad story.

Her daughter (some psycho bitch) was beating and abusing her and she did the same to the 9-12y.old kid. She has nowhere else to go (no money for that), the police didn't do shit (big surprise..) and she sounded very desperate and tired of the never ending drama. I can't say Im the most helpful person in the planet, but when I hear someone's story near me I always try to help if I can...the thing is I did various thoughts of how I could her the elder woman but none of them would solve her problem. What someone can do in such cases? I believe there are some centers they help, but I have a feeling it's just a temp. relief and you are back again to the problem.

Its sad but true. I always end up pasing homeless people in downtown sandiego, especially during baseball season. I figure it this way, If I pass 3 of them, happen to give them $20 each, I'm out $60. Big deal, its a tank of gas, a few drinks with friends, a low key dinner with the girl, whatever.

But $20 to them might keep them fed for 3 days. If you can't give back to those less fortunate than yourself, whats the fucking point of being on this shitty planet? Just my opinion.
