Data can be recovered in a lot of cases.
sorry to hear that.. you need to start making backups!
damn, well there are some programs, albiet expensive, that can pull the raw data off drives that are shitted up, and try to put it all back together. I had a drive that I thought was completely destroyed, no boot sector, bad sectors. I managed to get most of the stuff off, although there are many files that didn't get put together correctly, it saved enough to not be a complete loss.
I feel for you, it happened to me over the summer. Techs couldn't recover anything. Hopefully you will have better luck than I did.
I'm sorry to read that man..
Oh man, exact same thing happened to me last year. If it's any consolation, it gave me a chance to start things fresh, of course it dulled my productivity and from time to time I miss certain files.
That sucks. Backing up your work sucks too because it's easy to forget. I'm sure there are automatic solutions out there but those suck too because you forget about those too.
that sucks, I usually backup to dvd...thats not bulletproof either though
I just got off the phone with my computer guy and he said that a majority of the data is salvagable so I'm feeling a little better now. Phew!
I tell you what, it's like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind! |
relax and watch that ass in my sig :P
I think your sig might be too big...
i was gonna say...you don't back up your stuff???

take your drive and go to a professional data recovering company, they can do magic
glad to see it working out for you man the majority of the time the data is still there so don't worry. But back up more often.
man, life is go on - you'll make new and more creative works! :)
Honestly sorry to hear that bro. I now am backing up (for the first time ever) right now, so thank you.
Same thing happened to me last week, i lost a 200gig hard drive. I tested out over 10 pieces of recovery software, most were useless, but i bought these two, and while they couldnt get back everything, they did pretty well.
www.restorer2000.com http://www.quetek.com/ download the trials of them and test them out, they were by far the best 2 programs i found |
Damn. that has got to suck. Sorry to hear that man.

Good deal. I remember losing term papers a day or so before they were due back in college. :( |
dude, I had one crash real bad and none of those data recovery people could do it. They told me about high end hardcore data recovery people that literally pull the drive apart in a "clean room" and place all the internal disks one a large table and read each disk individually. It takes like a week to do. The date comes off very slow and is reconstructed on a new HD.
Starting cost is 2K. Instead of doing that I invested in a 1.5 Terabyte RAID setup. Bottom line is, no one will know how fucked that drive is until they look at it. Cheer up, it could be worse... you could be dickless. |
after you get all this squared away get an external drive and make your backups to that. saved my ass a week ago when a drive on my machine went.
also make a CD to boot up from so you can back into the machine if the boot sectoe goes bad. make sure your bios is set to boot from CD first then harddrive. |
