Which host for big comus sites?

Looking for a dedicated that can handle some big comus sites, current host keeps falling over... not gonna mention the name so don't ask.

Must prove that they can properly configure a server to run this script. Site references will be asked for.

Thanks a lot

you need a lot of CPU and ram, whats your current server specs?

i know people running dual xeon 3.0's with 2gb ram just for comus

zagi 02-04-2005 09:50 AM

A single XEON with 1GB of RAM should prove sufficient up to 20-30mbps

contact me on ICQ for references and proof of concept: 4930562

We've got several servers set up specifically for comus. http://www.thefilthyfew.com All the sites there are running comus and hosted on our servers. I know how to tune php, zend, and mysql to keep them running nice and smooth.

Contact info is on the hosting page. Hit me up if you'd like to talk things over.

Currently .... P4 2.8Ghz with 1Gig Ram + 80GB IDE.

I think the problem stems from a badly or inefficiently configured mysql database

Poppy 02-04-2005 09:55 AM

Hey there blazin, please hit me up to discuss your needs.

Fabuleux 02-04-2005 09:57 AM

If you know how to optimize your templates you can speed up Comus by 10 times. :2 cents:

I push around 3000K-400K per day on my box at www.sagonet.com without problems. I run Thumb TGPs so you probaly know those stats can go up and down quite a bit. I normally host 3-4 bigger sites on such a server.

It's a XEON 2.4 with 2GB RAM.

zzgundamnzz 02-04-2005 11:09 AM

I got mine hosted on a Pentium III - 500 with 512 MB of RAM

#34 overall

Might wanna get a server to only run the dbases if you don't wanna move.

I know this, because I work with these guys all the time. Isprime and phatservers have people you can call up on the phone and get instant help, oxeo and hahahahahaha have decent 1 day turn around times on support issues. The pricing gets cheaper as you run down the list.

I hate to brake it to you but if you can't run a tgp site on a HT 2.8 with a gig of ram then it's not your host.

You should be able to run almost anything on there.

Stick with your host and spend time learning MySQL and website optimizing.

:2 cents:

The creator of Comus Thumbs.

Mr. Igor 02-04-2005 02:45 PM

From one webmater to another, I would say ServerProvider has been awsome for me... I use to host on cheap bandwidth, wont point fingers, and my site wouln't grow, and loaded slow. My traffic went up by 150% within 2 days!!!! plus comus is peace of cake, you must setup it correct, then it wont eat any system usage.

FreeHugeMovies 02-04-2005 03:02 PM

My comus site is at about 160k per day and no problems at all. I am hosted at webair.com

pornguy 02-04-2005 03:03 PM

Try www.cyberwurx.com

you will love them.

Pornwolf 02-04-2005 03:18 PM

Webair.

Although, honestly speaking, it should be possible to handle that on the box you have. Your tech guys must be idiots.
