To work with others or NOT.... That is the question

ok, it's EASIER to work with others taking their galleries and adsand a lot of the people i work with have their shit together....

but i'm left thinking, I was doing JUST as well if not better when i took NO ads at all - all my own stuff....

controll is a great thing, it's addictive too- but it's more work and i'm wicked lazy.... but that's changing as I get my head back.......cause i'm a controll freak at heart and i have some things on the horizen that are incredible....

hummmmmmmmm

Your not the only one to have thought of this, I assure you.

i am lazy too, but I can't stand working with others half the time...so much disappointment most of the time, and not enough rewarding payoff...

i just keep everything in house nowadays

good friends don't always make great business partners
good business partners don't always make great friends

never work with someone who has the same faults or you'll just magnify the faults

working on your own i feel is the best. if you give someoen else a job, you know they are going to fuck up somewhere along the line, and you will have to fix all their mistakes to fit your needs. where you could have done it perfect from square one.

just my thoughts.

that's all fine and well, but what happens when you need something done 9or done right) that is beyond your scope of knowledge? (yes, I know about outsourcing, but that's not always the best option)

I agree 100%!

sometimes its best to combine resources but if it can be done on your own do it and have the control.

wargames 02-04-2005 01:07 AM

Working with others, because you get to learn more things.

ffmihai 02-04-2005 01:13 AM

working all alone is better. you have control of everything... else you have to explain every fart you take to your partener...

Elli 02-04-2005 01:24 AM

Good question.. I think it really depends on the people involved. If you can't find someone who is trustworthy, capable, creative, and ambitious, there's really no point in joining forces with them. I'm sure there are more criteria that haven't jumped to mind.

I gotta admit, working the affiliate angle only is pretty damn sweet :)

One more thing to add, I used to do SE consulting way back when and now I do the affiliate angle only. This way, you hold all the cards, you're in control and you can make the demands as to what you want. There's sooo many sponsors out there and very few people with great quality traffic so I'd rather be in the position to negotiate better terms, and for me, that's being in the affiliate shoes rather than the consultants.
