My dvd player is not playing movie dvds anymore, anyone can help me here?
 

That is strange, my dvd can read cds, burned cds, burned dvds with data, but any movie dvd (burned or not) cant read, it just load it and dont show nothing at my computer... The strange thing is that yesterday I was playing these dvds without any problem...

anyone knows what is?

DVD players are still too finnicky, definitely get a new one.

but is there a dvd problem? it can reads data dvds, only movies that it cant...

Have you added any video type software since yesterday or changed settings on any video programs? What program are you using to watch?

If all else fails try doing a system restore to a time prior to yesterday.

I installed some video programs to split movies, nothing more... at windows explorer it does not shows the dvd in the dvd driver, that is the strange thing...

I'm not quite following... when you are in "My Computer" the DVD doesn't show up as a drive letter? Yet you are able to play audio CDs? Or Just the names of DVDs not showing up next to the drive letter?

The dvd name is not showing next to the driver letter, its seems windows is not reconizing it as a dvd... but when I put a data dvd or any cdroom it loads well and windows reconize it as a dvd/cd and show the name of the dvd/cd at the driver letter,,,

this is just happening with movie dvds, burned or not...

If you have the latest version of WMP, try going into Options, then File Types and making sure the DVD box is checked and see if that makes a difference and you can play in WMP. Since the drive is playing other disc types I'm thinking something has changed your file association.

nevermind, i think my dvd is fucked up, after a lot of tries I could play a dvd, but took it off and tried again and couldnt play again... I will buy a new one...
