When Does Gambling Become A Problem?
 

Every day when we wake up we make moves that can be considered as taking a gamble. From Opting to go with one affiliate program to another . Or from taking a cab home or driving drunk. In the past couple of weeks I have basically moved to Atlantic City to gamble the whole weekend. In your eyes , When does gambling become a problem?

If you have nojob.

I guess when you start thinking about playing again and again and don't fell very bad about the looses

the dealer at the casino, which is on a first name basis with me, was laughing when he said I should Advise you to call 1 800 Gambler. But off the bet I won 1,200 by putting 400 and winning 2 to 1

When you start borrowing money, thats when it becomes a problem.
Its ok to loose whatever you got, but borrowing other people's money and loosing them this sucks big..

when you start to get frustrated when you lose, and when you are starting to chase losses, "Theres no point walking away 500 quid up when ive already lost 1500" thats what i used to be like....

When you gamble money you can't afford to lose.

Got a problem when:
- you stop asking yourself if your vise (drugs, alcohol, gambling etc) is a problem.
- your vise begins to control your actions (need to go to the store to buy new razor blades, but there are some rails left on the dance floor, so you decide to do them before you leave ... oh, wait, there is some in a PB flap as well).

when youre poor and broke and cry a lot while drunk and high

when you're giving handjobs out back of the greyhound station for $5 a pop.

When does gambling become a problem? The day you get to Vegas :)

I don't think that I have a problem yet since I do not fit any of the previous posts. I just feel that If you work hard you should be able to play harder. Life is good with the new program, so no complaints.

When you do not know your limits!

If your gamble is enough to adversely affect your life with a loss it's too much.

Gambling, just like any other addiction, becomes a problem when the addiction turns active. And that happens when you don't know when to quit.

Playing the office football pool, or tossing down a few hands of blackjack in Vegas, isn't generally a problem for most people.

But making that "last" bet, especially when you're losing and you're chasing normal sized "good" money bets with huge "bad" money bets, is a sign of a problem. It's the same difference between someone who has a couple of glasses of wine with dinner and maybe blows it out once in awhile, and the guy that's downing ten drinks a night on a regular basis.

Addictions aren't healthy, and they come from different things. Ever noticed how the AA or NA people are usually addicted to sobriety and recovery to the point that nothing else is important to them? I went with a co-worker years ago to his NA meeting when he needed a ride one night. I've never seen that many people drink that much coffee and smoke that many cigarettes in such a small time and place -- the room looked like the smoking lounge at the Atlanta airport in under an hour, it was foul (and I smoke).

Every thing in an addicts life is either about their addiction or about whatever it is they have transferred their addiction to.

Then I think you get the accidental addicts, as I like to call them -- people that started out harmlessly enough but somehow missed the sign in the road that said, Slow down, the bridge is out ahead.

It's really pretty sad when you get right down to it.

And if you're still questioning whether or not your behaviour is problematic, then you're probably still safe in the behaviours. It's when you start to feel that you are above the possibility of problems or addiction that the Devil kicks you right in the nuts and donkey punches you before you can stand back up.

when you lose all your $$ in Vegas, sell your stuff, then lose some more and sell your airline ticket and then lose that and then cant even afford a Greyhound bus ticket home.

Try to spend this weekend with no gambling, if you cant, you have a problem. :)
