If you're in cuba and you post to here is it illegial for gfy's owners.......

ok - you're in a place banned by the USA - like cuba - and you post to GFY - who's servers are in the usa - is GFY and it's owners now involved in treason?

bringer 02-03-2005 03:23 AM

moving soon?

Harmon 02-03-2005 03:24 AM

Only if you are discussing treasonable (is that a word?) things I suppose. I do not think discussing adult webmastering is considered treason, but then again, who knows :Oh crap

They wont discover gfy till 2011.

and dont you think they dont know the value of them :thumbsup

goBigtime 02-03-2005 04:24 AM

No way.

It would never fly in court anyway.

Too many mainstream forum owners could be fucked over if they held forum operators accountable for the locations or posts made by their users.

For legal definitions I would think that the operator of a communicatio forum would have about as much liability as an ISP or a telephone company.

You can't be held responsible for people who use your lawful unmoderated service.

Those things are probably worth a mint. Many look brand new

goBigtime 02-03-2005 04:27 AM

BUT... I've always wondered about how that situation would apply if you went from the US _to_ one of those repressive countries on vacation after offering a service to the world (and people in that country) that is illegal in that country.

Ie.. could they pick you up at the airport and be like "You run XYZ.com & now you're going to cuban prison."

DeadFidel 02-03-2005 05:48 AM

I believe that it would fall under communications which is not illegal alike telephone calls.
However if there is any sort of profit exchange, then the situation becomes commerce which is illegal.
