anyone play football for a school ever?
 

I am going on 30 soon, so I talked to coach of my local college about playing football and the dude said to hit the gym and see him in the summer.

I am wondering if actually have a chance or is blowing me off since I'm 30, over weight, and was smoking while I asked him?

Also if anyone knows what these coach types look for to actually get on the team.

Hmm obviously overweight smokers will have a hard time, which is why he said to hit the gym for the next 6 months.. I had a bitch of a time in high school when I was fit, slim and barely smoking.

I played for 11 years, 13-24 if you have played the game a fair bit maybe if you work your ass off, If you are a couch coach and Sunday quarterback you will probably be killed long before your first real game.

i played from age 7- 19 got injured my senior year ended any hopes i had of playing college ball i strained all the muscles in my neck severely. They spasmed and i had to get 2 years of physical therapy to get rid of my neck problem. I think their is an age limit anyway on college ball isn't their i mean it would a little odd having a 30 year old playing against a 24 year old not that is not seen in the NFL but college is another level most of them are just out of HS.

Trust me, he is blowing you off. Unless they lost their budget on tackling sleds, they dont want you around.


It used to piss me off when I friends of mine or people I met would infer that they could have played college ball, but didn't because the chances of going pro were limited.

Trust me, just being big doesn't make you a football player.

There are a lot of people that play on the high school level that believe they are great players. In the college level, the coaches cant put them in the game because they would get injured.

there was a somethin like a 38 year old playin for south carolinia this year, so it can be done if you have the skillz
