Who has moved form the US to the Bahamas?
 

I am seriously thinking of moving my primary residence and applying for Bahamian citizenship.

who has done this and are there any major drawbacks?

I like the income tax there. It seems also that the standard of living is equal to the Sarasota area that I now live. Property taxes are lower but food, utilities, and building cost are about the same.

shap moved from Canada. the only issues seem to be the limited amount of time you can spend in your former country (to avoid taxes), and the crazy weather.

If the time would be very limited I would have to figure out how to establish my company over there and have all my proceeds put into a Bahama bank.

Getting some of the money back to the US to pay mortgages and living expenses will have to be learned.

Time to get a good tax lawyer. :thumbsup
