What is the #1 best spyware remover???
I'm gonna lose my fucking mind if I don't get all this virus / spyware whatever the hell popup bullshit off this computer.
HELP! :helpme |
best free ones? or.....
heres one I use....... http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
If a free one can take care of this yes... I'd pay though if I need to. Enough is enough! I haven't got one single fricking thing done today because of this :(
AdAware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
WG |
I use AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy. Those usually do the trick.
Spybot: Search and Destroy
Get it for free at download.com |
This may sound strange, but I got more junk removed from my computer by Microsoft and AOL anti=spyware than any of the others. It doesn't hurt to use the free ones like Adaware and Spybot, but they are lacking. If you have the time, use all of them, including trendmicro.com and Spy Sweeper which will give you a free 30 day trial.
Goodluck. Spyware is a real bitch. |
firefox / opera
What is poping up? Like the sites and such so maybe we can target exactly what you need.
yeah, i heard the ms one is good.....

That was the last program I had to use to get clean-- I eventually used several programs, but this is the one that did the best. They are the makers of CWshredder Free 30 day trial, but after a few days they give you a half off ad. I imagine I'll buy it when the trial lapses. Good luck! |
spysweeper, trend micro, Spybot Search and Destroy and Highjackthis are the very best, and all are free :)
Go with Spybot
Those free ones aren't effective enough..The msn on is crap...Buy one like Bullet proof...you won't be dissapointed
Ask 12Clicks. Opps, my mistake, I though you were asking for the best adware installer. (Note: This thread and the complaint it is addressing is the result of the use of wonderful "ad supported software" available directly from your friends 12Clicks and Standard Internet.).
Anyhow, the application that most IT departments depend on is Giant Software's product, which was recently purchased by Microsoft, and is now available as a free beta at: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx |

I've never found one program that will do the lot and use four - Try Adaware to start with - they have a free edition and paid versions. The others are SpySweeper, SystemSuite from VCOM and another from bulletproofsoft.com. With all of em, you'd be amazed at the amount of crap they find, but bet that is not the lot :-) Also use Firefox as a browser - it may help. |
A client's PC was just tested today and the consultant found 16+ adware/spyware programs on the box. All from Kazaa ... whatever you do, do NOT install that beast on any machine you care about.
i like adaware, but if you want to stop it before it gets onto your computer, use MOZILLA FIREFOX, as many are contracted by internet explorer...
I use spybot, adaware, and a-squared. The last one picked up a keylogger that the others didn't.
adaware, spybot: search and destroy AND HijackThis....I use all three on a regular basis....
Hijack This just caught a fuckin' IE popup hijack I've had for the last 2 days...it works awesome. http://www.spywareinfo.com/ Many virus/adware specialists suggest it.... |

Try SpySweeper
Before you run any of those boot in safe mode. run > msconfig click BOOT.INI choose safe boot. Boot and then run them. That way the spyware can't load into your memory and chances are it won't get removed with the spy remover if it's in your memory or already running.
It's the only way I got rid of some of the shit I had. http://www.webroot.com/ has a good tool. |
Forgot to add while you're in msconfig look under startup and you can see what runs when you boot. You can eliminate alot problems from there on your own.
Ad-aware SE Personal, Microsoft AntiSpyware, Spysubtract, and Spybot search and destroy. Actually use all of them every couple of days. Works great for me.
Spybot + AdWare + Dr.Web + Norton Security.
SpySweeper worth a try !

Regfreeze or Spybot
Microsoft released one not long ago. I hear it's very good.
Best one I've tried was the Windows XP Intallation CD.
It can let you format your hard drive and install the new version of windows, supposedly spyware free. :) I had the same shit problem last week. Got damn, took me 10 hours to bring it back to live! |
The Microsoft Antispyware is total shit. Lavasoft removes 2 times more crap off your computers than that antispyware tool by MS.
