i dont remember the name, but i found it on tucows.com one time
is it a maxtor hdd? maxtor has let me down so many times |
Yep its a Maxtor. It's over 2 years old tho, so it was due. I still have some decently important shit i was working on on the drive.

"due" ?
pffft i have seagates and western digitals from my 486 that still work.... 800 megs or so each... maxtor is just being cheap and shoddy lately... it's unfortunate |
"due" as in over 2 years of intense and constant use. I consider that pretty good. The usage hours on it are probably astronomical.

getdataback is what we use.

I am a bit of a zealot about this program but it saved my life twice when i had hard drives fail. Check out http://www.ubcd4win.com - It lets you boot to a network and you can just transfer your data to another machine or an external hard drive plugged into the network. It's fucking awesome!!!

Thanks, i'm going to download a few of these now and try em out. I think its more or less dead and going to require some outside help... I hope not, but we'll see. Thank you all.
