The Lakers 3 years ago...
Rick Fox, Shaq, Kobe, Fisher, Devean... all working together as a team.. When the Clippers even look like they might win the game, all it takes in for those 5 men to say, "Uhh, uh, no way man. Ain't gonna happen."

Lakers today...
Team #1 - Chucky Atkins, Jumaine Jones and Chris Mihm
Team #2 - Brian Grant, Lamar Odom and Caron Butler
Team #3 - Kobe, Kareem Rush, Slava Medvedenko, Luke Walton, Devean George and Brian Cook
Team #4 - Medvedenko, Sasha Vujacic, Tierre Brown and Tony Bobbitt
Team #5 - Vlade Vivac

Now.. get all five teams to play as one (or play at all (team #5)) and you have a pretty damn talented team.

Not 10 years.

This is a business. Buss is a great business man.

Relax. They will be fine.

I hope your right, The lakers have been great entertainment to the city of los Angeles for many years

wargames 02-01-2005 09:44 PM

I miss Shaq. :(

OG LennyT 02-01-2005 10:05 PM

Kobe misses Shaq. Kind of like when Jordan left and Pippen had to carry the Bulls. Pippen failed because, like Kobe, hes not a leader on the floor.

Vitasoy 02-01-2005 10:14 PM

I still have some faith left. :)

Takes time to gel.

I remember a thread a long time ago and Is aid exactly this would happen. Lakers fans, get ready to become the new equivalent of toronto fans. The owners have fired phil jackson and shaq to keep kobe on board. But as long as kobe is there, the team will be shit. This isnt something they'll be willing to admit after a couple seasons it will drag on and on and on. Then finally when kobe is 33+ and injured he'll be traded to some other team and that will be his storey. Shaq on the other hand will go on to win another championship.

Players like Kobe cant stand it when they arent the sole team leader, but when they finally get the duty.. they cant handle it.

Lakers are doomed.

Sosa 02-01-2005 10:26 PM

fuck the lakers! lets see all those fans flock to a new team

yeap u r right,if they can get Vlade Vivac,Kobe,Odom,Chucky Atkins and Chucky Atkins/Caron Butler it would be one nice team

axelcat 02-01-2005 10:33 PM

if rudy leaves whos going to coach them seriously

ChewbaCreative 02-01-2005 10:49 PM

i hope they find their game without Shaq and maybe Kobe too - good old time days come in past. :|

kmanrox 02-01-2005 11:00 PM

speaking of sucky teams, i just got back from the Magic game and it turned out to be awesome! they had to review the final shot to see if it was going into overtime, it was overturned and the Magic won. Great game.

still bitter about carter? sure sounds like it :laughing-

cap space in 2007 should lead to an interesting couple of years, it always does in LA

yes for some strange reason I really believe that, because the lakers are always built around great centers

foolio 02-01-2005 11:53 PM

they are jsut fucking around this year for a good draft pic lol

cool1g 02-02-2005 12:16 AM

wow - on ESPN they said don't rule out Phil Jackson returning to coach! :helpme

boneprone 02-02-2005 12:24 AM

I must be the only person here who thinks the Lakers are still a great team.

Damn If only my Blazers were as good as em Id be happy..

Think of it this way though. Its a great time to upgrade and move your season ticket seating up a few rows during the "low" times.

bdld 02-02-2005 12:25 AM

they dont look that bad, when vlade / george / kobe come back they'll be a playoff team, top 10 in the league.

good point but it still costs an arm and a leg for good seats

axelcat 02-02-2005 12:32 AM

this just in phil jackson considering the lakers head coach job again

mastermikex 02-02-2005 01:36 AM

i can't stand phil jackson...i'd respect him a lot more if he'd take on the coaching of the Hornets, for example. He has always had the best players in the league already on his teams. In fact, you could argue he's had the 3 most dominant players ever on his teams. Lets see him make new orleans a contender, or the bobcats.
