webair -
if you can beat any price being offered, then you need seriously to slash your prices on your homepage. OK, homepage prices can always be cut to make deals, but those prices are a frikken joke man.
I ain't rippin you, but when many a very well reputed (mainstream) companies can offer 2.;4 P4's with 1.5Gig ram/2x80Gig RAID1 with 40Gig out-of-state backup connected to Savvis with 3mbps for $109/per month, the you need to seriously consider if you can compete.

If you can, then slash, and I mean slash, your homepage prices because they do not give a good impression.

borked 02-03-2005 03:17 PM

lol 'bro', but if you're calling SAVVIS tier2 and comparing them to Cogent, I certainly wouldn't want to deal with you!
Would you call:
AT&T
BellSouth
Equant
Infonet
MCI
Qwest
SBC
Sprint
Verizon

Tier2 'call em cogent' providers? No, well, they're all up there with Savvis buddy.

Say, you know what Tier1 means :1orglaugh

Borked,

This conversation proves my point that people need to be more savvy when choosing a hosting company. Neither Savvis nor Cogent are teir one providers. Some of the providers in your list are tier one, and some are not. My question to you is why would you want a middle man between your server and a teir one network? Instead of just connecting to them directly? Let's hypothetically say FN and Savvis have a falling out, or Savvis decides to change something internally that the host is not happy with, the host is stuck w/ Savvis's ips, and would have to re-number ALL their clients IP addresses (can you say downtime).

Webair's network on the other hand connects directly w/ tier one providers, In addition to that we have public/private peering with over 80 other networks, and adding more as we speak.

Look... in this particular case I think you should take into consideration ALL of the variables not just pricing. There are some questionable variables to be considered when contemplating hosting with FN that you should ask yourself before signing up IMHO. Do your research, look around choose your host wisely, as they are the foundation to the success of your online business.

A few questions to ask yourself in this particular case would be:

Foundry nap aka steadfast aka nozoneinc aka xtremebandwidth aka nexgen? Why have they had so many names? What is the companies past history? Who exactly are you dealing with? Why have they only had their own AS # since July?

There are so many questions you should be asking yourself before looking at the pricing. Granted price is important, but personally I'd put quality, uptime, support, SLA and so many other variables of the lowest price. Bottom line foundry nap is a colo client of a hosting company called steadfast...if that's what your looking for there it is.

Thank you for your feedback, but I think you need to do a bit more research before stepping up to the plate ;) Let me know if you have any questions or comments I'll help you out where I can =)

Hey Magg are you that desperate of selling hosting that you feel the need of spamming this board about every fucking special you putting out? This is getting super annoying, I don?t see any other hosting companies doing same.

DennisS 02-03-2005 04:53 PM

Savvis ? lol stop reselling shit for C.h.o.o.p.a:)

Webair - I can continue with this point if you want, but in the end you'll come out having more egg all over your face. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

SAVVIS is very much a Tier 1 company and has been since 2000 when it decided to build its own backbone and move away from its leased-line supplier. It now has 10 OC-192 rings the last time I read a SAVVIS press-release.
It also has a number of private ATM-lines.

It is very much a Tier1 company, which is why the world's largest host provider, ThePlanet uses them. Ehm, and if they aren't good enough for webair hosting, then maybe you should drop a line to the guys down at Wall Street, since they are empowered with the SAVVIS network. I'm sure your great hosting offers on a superior network would interest them :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Magg 02-04-2005 12:02 AM

Its funny the amount of idiots in here, including webair.

If you are using tier1 as a definition of quality, you truly shouldnt be offering hosting.

Everyone else in this thread, im just going to ignore for the total lack of information all you people have.

Total morons, all of you, and all of you competition... heh... well, it wont be much longer before we show you all up... dont you worry guys... Webair, and all the other spammers... give us a week maybe two, and we'll see... we'll see.

I wont be replying in this thread again, because I have no need to prove myself to you backstabbing lying imbeciles. We DO run our OWN BGP, we do NOT resell anyone.

Anywho, flame all you will, you're all misinformed COMPETITION.

webair 02-04-2005 10:46 AM

[QUOTE=borked]Webair - I can continue with this point if you want, but in the end you'll come out having more egg all over your face. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Borked - Ignorance is bliss =) SAVVIS IS NOT TIER ONE ping one of their routers before speaking! you will see like 5 hops! Anyhow, I was just trying to help you out, as the company your defending has a very shady past. Host wherever you like hit me up when you go down and they take your business with them. And do your homework before arguing with me next time before making a fool of yourself.

---------------------------------------------

The facts remain:

- foundry nap is a client of steadfast
- foundry nap does not have their own network
- foundry nap has 1 connection to the internet, which is steadfast
- the providers listed on their page, savvis,btn,level3, are steadfast's providers, not foundrynap's
- foundrynap's IPs are owned by steadfast which are owned by savvis
- they are a colo client basically! Not to mention they have no redundancy

Magg - I do not consider you competition nor will I. Your reputation and past have caught up to you. You have worked with, been a part of companies in the past that have fucked over many webmasters. Therefore, you do not deserve the privilege to be associated with legitimate host such as most of the hosts that frequent the various boards that you have been banned from.

Foundry nap aka steadfast aka nozoneinc aka xtremebandwidth aka nexgen?

I think you true colors are beginning to show. I'm surprised it took this long to surface. Guys do your homework, look up the names above, see who they really are and what they have done in the past...They are NOT A TRUST WORTHY COMPANY!

If at that point you realize that you have made a mistake in hosting with them contact me or any other reputable host out (i.e - Jupiter, ISPRIME, Split Infinity, Server Provider etc...) there and I personally WILL MATCH ANY PRICING THAT FN HAS GIVEN YOU! Only you'll be working with a legitimate company serving the webmaster community since 1996, you will be on a fully redundant fiber based redundant connection, you will be burning all tier one bandwidth, but most of all you will be working with a company you can trust and will be around for the long run.

magg...borked...enough bs move on.

kmanrox 02-04-2005 10:50 AM

haha every time Magg opens his mouth he owns himself.

Why cant he just admit that he has 0 redundancy and relies on one connection to then net?

Gateway69 02-04-2005 11:01 AM

Webair is the way to go, not only good bandwidth but good support sure you can always find a cheap as host with lame bandwidth and no support but I have learned the hard way DONT even start there..

I have known mike at webair for some time now and hes a top notch guy no BS..

wotanworks 02-04-2005 11:37 AM

hehe, damn.
Nozone rings a bell though... Nick Catalano?

SpeakEasy 02-04-2005 12:13 PM

Very interresting thread. Magg owns himself yet once again. Webair Owns Magg and sets the record straight. But none of the established real hosts (other than Webair) will even waste their time on a punk like Magg. You got to Love gfy. BTW Great job Webair, this Foundrynap Ownage thread was long overdue. :thumbsup

justsexxx 02-04-2005 12:17 PM

Funny how the hosts are fighting here

frankfortuna 02-04-2005 12:21 PM

I'll be at Equinix on Tuesday if you want to give me a tour of your infrastructure.

swedguy 02-04-2005 12:29 PM

Nothing beats a good host fight :)

Holly 02-04-2005 12:30 PM

There should be some kind of dual "caged death match" deal as the finale for webmasterboxing.

The penis pill/extender guys in one cage... the adult hosts in another.

I thought Magg was a high school kid, is he even old enough to attend? :1orglaugh

TheGoldenChild 02-04-2005 12:42 PM

All I know is I have a very knowledgeable hosting guy staying with me in SD- Tom from Blue Gravity...

He flipped out when he saw how fast Foundrynap.com was and he couldn't figure out how we were fasster than him as well as Nat Net- Once he saw how things were set up , he was VERY IMPRESSED with Chris and Foundrynap

I like to rep Foundrynap because of the service, and pricing we can offer webmasters.

I am not out to make friends here I am out to make happy customers-

If you want to be a happy customer- email [email protected]

I'd like to make you happy!

justsexxx 02-04-2005 01:33 PM

Is isprime the only webhost with a 10gig-e connectivity?

chaze 02-04-2005 01:38 PM

10g-e

What does it matter if they have a customer that uses 90% of the bandwidth. It's not like they have 10 gig e's open for everyone.

If they do actually have it.

We have a customer that uses 200 megs but I would not put him on the same network as our shared customers. It would be foolish to risk the other to save couple bucks by not opening a new port.

basically 100 meg line is fine, I would not recommend anything over that per network otherwise all your eggs are in one basket.
