Firefox Users - Speed up your browser

I don't think it's bee posted before, so for my fellow firefox users, this literally kicks up firefox a shitload. I open up multiple tabs when I use Firefox, all the sites loaded instantly. Have fun, and remember to shut down Firefox after you do the changes.

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit enter. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

Set "browser.turbo.enabled" - to "true"

Set "network.dns.disableIPv6 - to "true"

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

Halcyon 02-01-2005 11:57 AM

interesting! I'll give it a try

GatorB 02-01-2005 11:57 AM

Still slower than IE. Especially on pages with loads of graphics. Sorry.

tranza 02-01-2005 11:59 AM

I'll test it right now. Hang on.

Good for you. I have always said as soon as somebody fixes the problem with the load time I might switch. Still not fixed. When I had to shut the browswer down because the WEATHER CHANNEL website caused it to fuck up that's just sad.

MickeyG 02-01-2005 12:14 PM

to get rid of the load time delay delete that LatestHeadlines button thats the cause.

I don't see either of these things.

MickeyG 02-01-2005 12:35 PM

maybe you dont have the buttons then? I dont know mine were just underneath the address bar. They were installed their by default and everytime I would load firefox I would have to wait for it to connect to their server and download these stupid news headlines. After I deleted those quick launch buttons the startup time improved dramatically. - Good luck

Arowanna 02-01-2005 12:36 PM

thx :thumbsup

fuelcell 02-01-2005 12:41 PM

Much faster load times. Thanks.

woj 02-01-2005 12:43 PM

Spunky 02-01-2005 12:52 PM

No I don't have these and I'm sorry but FireFox still loads like I'm on a Pentium II 500 MHz on 56K dial up.

HorseShit 02-01-2005 06:01 PM

it's so fucking fast just the way your mother likes it

Jimmie 02-01-2005 06:07 PM

Its always loaded fast for me... IE can kiss our asses. :thumbsup

PB - STONEYCASH 02-01-2005 06:41 PM

e-god 02-01-2005 06:52 PM

You must have a slow computer, or a shitty video card. I think you're experiencing screenlag, because the rendering time of Firefox is much faster than that of IExplore.

boner 2.0 02-01-2005 09:46 PM

Tried it, and yeah it loads faster :thumbsup Thank you :winkwink:

Mr Jackson,

I sure hope you're kidding, because if you read up on W3C standards, like anyone who calls themself a webmaster should, you would know that Firefox is compliant, and that Internet Explorer is pathetically inaccessible.

Try a test and run your spyware removal programs daily(not those free ones ,they aren't effective enough)
I was getting atleast 30 instances every day in IE ...now I'm down to maybe 10 using Firefox now..

Let me rephrase: If we could find a way to make FireFox match IE's CSS standards, or vice-versa. It's IMPSOSIBLE to code the CSS to work on both browsers, and since 95% of the porn visiting world still uses IE...

dozey 02-01-2005 10:08 PM

been posted before, just under some other weird thread

gecko 02-01-2005 10:21 PM

Did it when I first installed firefox.
