Tax time is around the corner
 

I used to do my taxes myself, this is the first year I've been doing adult full time and I want to get an accountant. Where is the best place to find one and what do you do to find out if they're good or not?

What is your definition of "good"? I fired my last two accountants for being creative...against my instructions...and had to pay additional taxes because the IRS did not approve of their creativity. One was a long time friend and it pissed him off...when I fired him...but then again it pissed me off when he did not follow my instructions.

i'm in the same boat as you, i dont want any "creative" write offs.

My accountant called me at 7pm last night to let me know my final totals and then to just talk the shit for a while. Get to know your accountant it will help. I just gotta stop in and write out some checks and I'm done. I like to get everything done as quick as I can.
