Japan Airlines (JAL) - Opinions?

What do you guys think of the quality of JAL? Im mostly interested in LEG and SEAT room... 20 hour flight twice within a little over a week I dont want some small as shit where my knee's are hitting the other seat and no position will help me.

Im going to Manila... what other airlines would you recommend if not JAL that has a ton of space?

robfantasy 02-01-2005 12:27 AM

FUCKING LUXURY, all the waitresses are super duper fucking hot. no males, no ugly girls, no old girls, all girls who are extremely sexy and beautiful..

robfantasy 02-01-2005 12:28 AM

why did i say waitresses, i meant stewardesses

Magg 02-01-2005 12:33 AM

what about space?

Magg 02-01-2005 12:46 AM

:1orglaugh :error :error :helpme :upsidedow :upsidedow :Oh crap :Oh crap

robfantasy 02-01-2005 12:48 AM

just like any other normal airline

Magg 02-01-2005 12:51 AM

that sucks, i heard it was supposed to have much more legroom

BRISK 02-01-2005 12:58 AM

JAL is average. Before flying JAL I thought it would have better in flight games and movies, but I found the entertainment options to be dissapointing.

Everything else was normal/average.

I've flown JAL 4 times now

Who has more leg room? Im fucking tall and big i cant have my knees squashed against the seat infront of me, ill kill myself and id hate to be squeezed against 2 other people for 20 hours

You can always get more legroom by requesting a seat in the emergency aisle

You probably don't need to trade with someone to get a seat in the emergency aisle. Just call JAL and request it, and request it again at the check in desk.

The space is the same as the rest because it's the same jet but the service will be pretty good !

abadfish 02-01-2005 01:42 AM

Emergency exit is good... or first/business class...

DickShoke 02-01-2005 01:44 AM

:thumbsup I don't know about the quality of the airlines but I fucked two JAL flight attendants two weeks ago. I give the workers a 10 out of 10 rating!

JAL is great. As far as leg room, I am 6'1 and all planes suck in coach unless you get the emergency row.

I do have some little tips for you:

#1 If when you check in you can't get an emergency row... be the last person on the plane. The very last right before they close the gate. Get on and start looking for empty rows and go hog one. Once the gate is closed you can sit anywhere you want. If your lucky and the load is not overbooked, you will find a row in the back or 3 seats together where you can lay down. Hog these fuckers!!! I do this all the time and 9 out of 10 times get an entire row to my self somewhere on the plane.

#2 Wear a knee wrap to the airport and show them at check in that your knee is fucked and ask if they have any seats with extra room because you don't want to crap it in such a long flight. This is a gorilla tactic but hey, a 20 hour flight is WAR!!!

#3 Rack up your miles and cash them in to ride business if you do not like to buy a business ticket.

#4 If all else fails... DRUGS. Valium, zanax or what ever you need... take it once you board and lights out.

Another thing... an Asian airline will go out of their way to accommodate you, where a US airline will not. Use that to your advantage and ASK for whatever you want. They worst that will happen is they will say no.

Well... I guess the very worst could be that your attendant is an undercover Samurai and she will slice open your stomach for insulting her. But that's a long shot and doesn't happen often.

My favorite airlines are Asian

Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific

As the biggest flight guru here and after many hours in all classes on just about every airline, my recommendation is:

If flying coach, go American Airlines to HKG, then Cathay Pacific down to manilla. (and join AA platinum challenge before you leave!)

If you're doing it in business class - go Cathay Pacific the entire way. = FLAT++

If you are flying FIRST you need your head checked.

Go with oneworld airlines where you can, their inflight entertainment, seating and overall flight experience shits all over other carriers such as JAL, PhillipineAirlines etc that go that way.

Otherwise, if time is no issue, I'd probably pickup a Signapore airlines flight and go via SIN :)

Soo many options!!

Enjoy the trip!
