Did you know that spam cost society billions and billions of dollars each year? If that money were spent food and medicin, you could save majority of children in 3rd world countries from dying.

Think about it.

I didn't even know people still ate that shit.

The money that spam costs companies (or individuals) would not be going to those starving kids anyway.

The $40 million the prez just spent on his inauguration could have fed a few small countries for 15 years too.

The more money saved, the more taxes payed. Politicians in rich countries always discuss what they can 'afford' on 3rd world countries. If we had more money we could afford that too.

the war in Iraq costs US taxpayers $1 billion a week... So you'd better stop talking about spam expences till the war's over.

The irony is that the spam is being mailed off of servers in countries that need the money the US would hypothetically be saving to donate. The US has tons of people in its own country that need help, yet our tax dollars keep going everywhere but where it's needed. Money saved in the US isn't guaranteed to go where it 'should' go. There's a lot of wasted money flowing through the US. For example... millions and millions spent everyday in the justice system on frivelous lawsuits and prosecuting ridiculous things like possession of marijuana. (I don't smoke it but think it's stupid that it's illegal when cigarettes are not)

Spam is also earning a lot of money for poor people. Think of Nigeria.

I'm sure that the SPAM food product has killed more people than e-mail spam. You see the fat and sodium content in SPAM? It's like 257%.

most of the material losses caused by spam (mass unsolicited email delivery, to keep it clear :) are covered by US taxpayers, so why do you care about it ? :pimp

I hate being spammed too, I never ever practiced it, but it will exist as a business tool until its effective... and I afraid it will be effective until internet exists

If you send out 1 spam mail to 10.000 people, and they spend in average 5 seconds on that email it has a total cost of about 350$

So conclusion is that everytime you send that mass mail, you kill 1 kid. No matter where you live, what other people do or other circumstances.

I just looked at my IN BOX and between this and that 60 cents a day guy "last night 60 thousand kids died" I would say we are about out of kids..

If that many children are dying, how many are being born????

The world population is increasing, so more babies are born than people die obviously. But the more are born, also more amount of children dies, if it is same percentage.

I hate spam as much as the next guy but these numbers are just utter bullshit. It is completely unrealistic to multiply the minutes wasted x the number of people recieving spam and come up with some 1000000 gazillion dollars per year estimate.

Along with hundreds of millions of other people worldwide, I waste my time by picking my ass from time to time but you don't see front page news crapping on about tight undies costing us billions of dollars a year.

The big, and relevant, difference is that those dads use their creditcards voluntary. And you come here voluntary. Thats about priority. Dads and you choose the costs.
Email spam is not voluntary, and you cannot really choose it away.
