They have nice prices. Are they reliable? Do they accept porn?

I still have a couple boxes with them. I personally have never had a problem with them.

they rock. but you have to do everything byyourself, no support...

Agreed, I used to have 2 servers with them....one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. :2 cents: Suppoprt sucked, server quality sucked, bandwidth sucked...the only thing that was ok was the prices, but you get what you pay for. Stay away is my opinion. :2 cents:

wrong...they are unmanaged which means if you don't know shit about handlying your server they suck, if you do they are good!

- Their support is only for reset's, physical problems with the server, restores,etc...you prolly wanted them to do alot more than that.

- They network is one of the best (check the stupid amount of pipes they have with lots of different bw providers)

- The server quality you are right, sometimes you can happen to get a "dud" server...

- Price wise, they were unbeatabble (sp) long time ago but now competition is king ;)

EV1 is great, but they offer UNMANAGED servers! People saying that they're worse simply don't know what unmanaged means.

EXACTLY...most of these complainers don´t know shit about about servers and expect everything to by done FOR them. Even reading that the servers are unmanaged. THEN they start complaining.

I´m with EV1 and I´ve had virtually no downtime in 2 years. The downtime I DID have was mostly my own fault.

I know my stuff, so it keeps running alright. If you know jack shit about servers, you might wanna consider another company. You´ll have to pay more, but you´ll get managed.

Stating that EV1 sucks is a dumb ass remark from somebody that´s to stupid to read....

Crackshack? I have something like 2-3 unmetereds with them.

Never really had a problem. one box in particular was giving me shit but that was something my coder guy caused.

i have been running dedicated linux and unix servers for years; worked as a sysadmin for a telco and know my way around administration quite well... any host i get, is always unmanaged since i prefer full server control...

with that being said i still have had alot of bad expiriences with rackshack in the past, enough for me to refrain from even bothering with ev1... they may have changed their ways but i won't give them a chance based on past expirienced... just my :2 cents:

Dude this was a thread asking specifically about a particular host, NOT for cheap spams for other hosting. Also nobody gives a rats ass about xbiz awards, that is nothing but bull hookie anyway, it holds zero credibility. Splitinfinity does have an ok reputation in the biz but all the cheap spamming you do makes you look like fools. :2 cents: :2 cents:

rackshack used to be managed. and it was shit.

It's been said before, if you know how to manage a server, ev1 simply can't be beat. You have 100% control over your server...no waiting for the ISP to add your domains..no waiting for anything. And you can tweak your config file to best suit your unique type of traffic. And the prices are fantastic. Plus, their user forum provides answers to almost anything you want to know.

But, don't get one of their servers if you don't want to manage it. You simply can't buy one of their servers and expect to start loading files onto it without tweaking and updating at least a few files. Plus, you will need to update files when new patches arrive for the OS, web panel and add-ons. Easy enough if you know what you are doing. If you don't, then it can be HELL!

I use them and like them. They have great tutorials to teach you stuff if you don't know everything. Plus thier support, for me, has been great. They respond fast to a trouble ticket and they have live 24 hour chat support. I really like them. The only problem I've encountered is a couple TGP's have banned all of Ev1's network.

I had used them for about 2 years. Their connectivity was good, their prices were great. But their support SUCKS big time. If you have any problem other than "please reboot my server" your mails would probably end up in /dev/null

They even charged my credit card after the contract had ended :mad:

We have been using them for about 3 years no problems at all, response is always fast and efficient, though the servers are unmanaged, that means that you are in charge of it..I personally run 9 tgps with them. As High Country Hosting we offer managed servers from ev1 at unbeatable prices, also virtual. Check sig if interested.

sandman is right.. I use to have a server there a year ago or so!! no other word can say it like CRAP!....

if you know how to manage servers go with them, you will receive a quality machine (most likely dell), very fast network and a fast support, however this support is not going to manage your server. I have around 20 machines with different providers around the world including 5 @ ev1 and I cannot say a bad word about them. I used to be with ev1 since they were under the name rackshack

people stop posting stuff like *crap*, *they sucks*, if you want to be trustworthy at least give some description of what happened
