There is not a problem CASHING checks.. it is a problem when u want to open a checking account and they find out that it is for a porn company... At least that was the story with BOA.Comment

I have been banking with BOFA for over 10 years. We have been depositing big checks from big companies with profane names constantly. Never any problems.
My personal banker, whom I just called about this issue, claims that BOFA will not as a policy close an account for the names on the checks they deposit for you, OR the company name itself. There have been instances where in the past, employees tried to raise a stink claiming sexual abuse in the work place, being forced to read the names on some checks, however since then all employees had to sign contracts and other papers to put an end to those charges/claims. However, they told me they have never closed an account due to names on checks or accounts in her recollection and stated that perhaps if someones account was closed, there were other reasons on top of it?
Anyway, we have been with them for quite some time and I value them as our primary bank.
I would however be careful of some offshore banks.
I dont really think BOFA would mess with multi million dollar accounts.... However smaller ones, I have no idea.... I dont think anyone is ever safe in this world.
Keeping a bank-style safe in my home proved no security as well when my home burned down..... the door was left open and, well, you can guess the rest.Comment

I've not had a problem with BofA, which doesn't mean it can't happen. I do have a back up bank account and my corporate name is generic sounding.
As I recall, Silver Cash had their account closed, which makes me careful.
There was a sponsor program whose name appeared on the check and I was not comfortable with that. MegaPornBucks, I think it was.Raven

She's filling out the form and starts asking what our company does and I told her pay-per-call 900 programs, and she goes you mean like those phone sex numbers? and I said yes we do that and mainstream as well. She stopped filling out the forms, handed me the back check and said we don't do business with adult entertainment companies.

Never ever had any problems with banks on adult stuff. In fact the opposite, but that still don't make em anything other than utter assholes who can't be trusted with shit:-)
I always like they way "specialists" in the banking community come along and feel they are going to "help" you with your biz then start spewing total crap out of some bank survey they did on an industry, which bears no relation to reality in that industry. My bank actually used to tease me about the checks/names. Never had a problem but I did get an insider warning: when you deposit more than $10,000 in cash, the bank is REQUIRED to flag that account for the IRS! So be on the lookout for those 1099s!!!
