Do you have to love it to be successful at it?

I was reading a different thread. Someone posted that you have to find something you love and that makes the money roll in. He was convinced you can't become a millionaire with out that.

My UPS man is a millionaire so lets assume he meant big money. But I have never loved what I have done, and I do very well. And the rich people I know love making money. If their was more money in shoveling pony shit, they would shovel pony shit. But I know lots of landlords. No one goes into real estate because they love tenants. You do it to make money.

Is porn different? I am not a porn millionaire, and I do not like porn. Is a normal sex life holding me back? Should I ditch the girlfriend and learn to like trannies?

you probably already like trannies :1orglaugh no seriously, i don't believe that you have to love something to be really good at it and to get rich from it. It wouldn't hurt if you loved it too, but that's not a prerequisite for success

Of course you don't have to love it. I don't love porn but I love the money so it works out.

Love is a many spendored thing. different strokes for diffreent folks.

I believe the post you read meant that if you find something you know and enjoy it is much easier to sell as you can connect with your target market much easier. If you are trying to sell trannies but if you nearly vomit when you look at the pictures how good do you think your advertising will be for it?

that's why tranny isn't the only category there is out there right?

The big bucks are almost never being made on things you love.

You mean playing xbox isn't going to pay off? Yeah, this loving what you do and it will all work out is sort of Nickelodeon thinking.

So I have been told! I am going to be 35 tommorrow, and I had a goal to be a millionaire by 25 also, I think that most people set their goals for 25. Weird.

But nevertheless, good luck and I hope you make it.

It does help loving what you do :thumbsup

You all seam to miss the point. You have to love what you do.

For example you don?t have to love porn to make money at it you can love the joy of building the sites, the traffic, and such without loving the content. You may enjoy the freedom the job offer like being able to be home for your kids.

The point is if you love it you are more motivated. It is easier to stay focused and you are not forcing yourself to work. Loving something does not make you a success and vica versa you can be a success at something you hate.

I happen to be an excellent sales rep. at 19 I had 40 people working for me and i managed a telephone sales company but i hated doing it. Everyday waking up was horrible and i could not stand going to work. I was making money but I could not stay in the field without burning out.

i take such joy now in creating a product people enjoy. The fact that is porn does not matter as i know I am doing right by our employees and my customers.

Nope, you dont have to love what you do to be successful at something, but it sure does help.

sean416 01-29-2005 12:23 PM

exactly what SPW Guru said... you might not love the tennants if you're in real estate, but you love aqquiring new properties, scouting for hot buys, dealing with the negotiations, etc.

Rui 01-29-2005 01:00 PM

I don't you really need to love it, just understand it and work hard (thats the worse part of it lol)

quiet 01-29-2005 01:16 PM

i pretty much hate this business.
