Pop up blockers... anyone find a way to beat them ?
Damn, was looking over stats last night and noticed a big drop off in my exit traffic. perfect example of assholes ruining a good thing. If so many people wouldn't have did the "endless loop" of pop ups then it wouldn't have been a big issue and XP wouldn't come installed with a popup blocker in it already turned on.....
All I am looking to do is 1 pop under, maybe an exit pop up... not trying to piss anyone off, just hate to see money waisted. If anyone has found a way around this let me know. I am will to pay $$$ for the info. |
There are a few methods out there. A search on this board will find you a few. If you have any trouble finding them hit me up.
|
you can search on this board, I thought the search feature was broken ?

I've been searching, I found some but the don't work.
ANYONE have any scripts to beat popup blockers ?????? |
|
People who have gone out of their way to block pop-ups are going to click on your pop-up? For 99% of the population it's like an involuntary process where you right click on the pop-up in the taskbar and close it before it even loads.
:1orglaugh |
maybe this?
okay I personally use their popunder light and it beats xp sp2 beautifully, give it a shot http://www.fpctraffic2.com/webm.cgi?fuzzball

the examples they give dont work my link above works.. |

Hate to tell you it does not even beat google ..let alone SP2 |
Insert a popup into a 1x1 Flash movie.
Works like a charm, Smokey uses that method. |
Quote:
theres a better method.. see http://earthunplugged.org/aa/111.html |

Smokey when I click on the link and exit the page I get the pop, cool! but when i copy source and put it on my page it doesn not. What's the trick ? I copy the source exactly the way it is on the demo site ??? Thanks |
Quote:
which code ?? the one you quoted or the exit one.. the one you quoted is a popup not an exit pop the exit script needs the .js file on that page |

|
this example
http://www.earthunplugged.org/aa/2.html uses this file ( right click save target as ) http://www.earthunplugged.org/aa/stb.js |
There must be a way to bet them... At least, tons of them get through my google toolbar. :(
I don't use them much, myself. |

some good points there.. heres another.. nobody like t.v. commercials , but i bet nobody could say they haven't bought something , purely because of an ad on tv. |
Quote:
this one: http://www.earthunplugged.org/aa/2.html works for me online but not when i put it on my pages... ? thanks |
Quote:
snag that .js file i posted above and modify to fit your needs |
Quote:
Or how about this example " Would you like to biggie size that ? " etc... that's a pop up no different, upsell same thing. If someone voluntarly comes to my site, what is wrong with me giving them a couple different things to choose from. No different then anything else. |
smokey's being patient with a retard that can't even view source and find the .js file...
:1orglaugh |

AHHH I see now. I missed that it was referencing the js file when i orginally looked at the source code. Cool, trying it out now. NOW, I hate to sound greedy, but anyone have a pop under script ? Would love to get my hands on one of those as well. Thanks for your help Smokey, you ever need anything let me know. |

|
Quote:

people hate them, popups are dying and wont last much longer..
|
Quote:
LOL if you say so.... |

insert in head: <script language"JavaScript"> <!-- brandnew=window.open('http://www.modify-as-you-want.html,'_med','resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,too lbar=yes,location=no,directories=no,status=no,menu bar=no'); brandnew.blur(); // --> </script> |

A popup is intrusive advertising - plain and simple - you can't argue the efforts people have made to get rid of them, and people don't trust them at all, everytime people talk about popups, they directly relate it to spyware. It's the same reason why I stopped using popups completely across my entire network - I'd rather not piss off the 90% of surfers who come back because I have empowered them to make their own choice for purchasing a membership, instead of trying to force the flavour of the week down their throats. :2 cents: |
Oh and I forgot to mention, that popup javascript - when people have noscript installed and the site isn't whitelisted in Firefox, nothing happens.

why dont you check some of the hacker forums for this info?
|
good stuff smokey .. know alot of people happy with that script.
|
We have a similar script in use at www.ReviewCash.com ... It works with IE7, IE6 and Firefox ... See it in action at www.SexMegaDirectory.com ...
Affiliates get to use this script to send traffic and we use it also to exit that traffic back to the sender. |

A few bad apples ruined a good thing. Its been so long sice I was bombarded with an endless popup hell that really almost forgot what it was. |
oh my.....trolling seems to have evolved to be a full time job

No need to beat them, since they will find a way to beat you again :)
