the only reason people have him on shirts in the US is because rage against the machine used him a clever marketing tool.

Exactly; dumb rebellious youth wear the image, as they do that of Charles Manson.
Every time I see anyone with a Che shirt, I approach them, point to the shirt, and say "that mother fucker killed my Grand Father you asshole"

maxdaname 01-28-2005 04:25 AM

I would never buy 3 pesos for 20$... :2 cents:

And I hate communism as much as you do. In my opinion Che was misled, and Fidel probably was behind his murder. It is my suspicion that Fidel or the KGB tipped off the CIA to get Che screwed. They knew that he was a man of strong principles and they feared that he will turn someday against them (e.g. against Fidel and company)

If that's your theory, then why did Castro depict and create him as a martyr by building statues, putting him on currency etc.?

No, but he was very popular here in the US in 60's and early 70's :thumbsup

TheSaint 01-28-2005 06:48 AM

This goes around every so often; he was cool in the 60's too. My understanding is when Fidel started murdering people Che blessed it.

For a much cooler revolutionary, check out Pancho Villa, the mexican revolutionary/bandito. Besides having about 50 girlfriends he was featured in person for a hollywood movie. :thumbsup
