Do you buy and rip DVD's for your own sites?
 

Would you prefer them encoded already instead or do you like to be able to cut up the scenes into whatever size clips yourself?

What formats and what speeds do you offer to your members?

Just wondering ...

I prefer it done for me...saves lots of time and money....

I would love to find a supplier who encoded them. It would also be awesome if that supplier put them in a ?? packge ;)

Chances are the encoding would not be up to par so I would prefer just the DVDs, and NOT copies of them.

non encoded dvd's would be great

If they were encoded good, that would be nice as long as they gave the webmaster options in formats and sizes.

I like doing it myself, it gives me more ability to make full vids and teasers for the tours.

I use a few programs. Studio 8, Vegas Video, Final Cut Pro, and Cleaner for encoding.

Yeah that's my one and only complaint with World Wide Content... they sent us copies of the actual DVDs :(

i encoded the entire buttman library last night am gonna launch tour next week.

I think having the DVD available to encode and re-encode as compression technology develops in a couple of years is better than buying content pre-encoded unless the source material comes with it.

i have never bought from them per say, but i know exactly what you mean. this is exactly why i now produce my own premium content.

I have a dvd burner but have never used it. I wish I knew how to use it. :(

If they are Asian DVD's, not over saturated in the market, and reasonably priced, I'd prefer to encode and cut them myself..

Let's talk ... non of the titles or studios I'm working with have EVER released their content to webmasters. No worries about over saturation at this early juncture.

I might be able to offer you some kind of time based exclusivity on a few things if it makes sense to all parties involved.

Depending on the length and turn-around time, we charge 85-100 bucks per DVD. This includes recieving the DVD, ripping and encoding into one format, and uploading to the client's server. Other formats are possible, and discounts apply to larger orders.

I buy MPEG 1500, then give them to my guy who breaks them down into WMV and Quicktimes in 300 and 700 speeds with 2 teasers per scene.

And they are all branded.
