Will There Be Hockey Or Not?

NHL owners are going to offer a new deal to the players - could be just a setup for going to the Nation Labor Relations Board and destroying the players association or it could be the richest owners caving in again.

Carmensita 01-27-2005 12:49 PM

i sure hope not. that sport is so boring to watch.

Denver 01-27-2005 01:07 PM

I hope so, but doesnt sound like it. The way both sides are talking there may not even be hockey year.

andrej_NDC 01-27-2005 01:50 PM

The owners dont want capitalism in NHL, they would like to have guaranteed profits, but thats insane. If they are stupid to run a team, they shouldnt.

Doctor Dre 01-27-2005 01:52 PM

I highly highly doubt it

Mr Pheer 01-27-2005 02:10 PM

I dont care, I got plenty of hockey here in Vegas with my season tickets to the Las Vegas Wranglers.

BigWebRev 01-27-2005 02:59 PM

not this year........fuckers

V_RocKs 01-27-2005 03:01 PM

Right now hockey reminds me of when my TGP server went down for 2 days... (this is day #1)

wes 01-27-2005 03:09 PM

I hope so

Paco, of Large Cash. 01-27-2005 03:27 PM

I hope the NHL folds because of the fucking little games the meatheads are playin.
Every day ... there is going to be a meeting ... there was a meeting but nothing was achieved ... blah-blah

European hockey is much better and unions sucks ass!

sweetME 01-27-2005 04:35 PM

I hope not. My husband will have two very important things to do, watch basketball and hockey.

flashfire 01-27-2005 04:37 PM

I hope so but I kinda doubt it, we'll know within 96 hours I just heard on the radio

JimmiDean 01-27-2005 05:22 PM

The owners and profit ? is that why there has been 26 different owners in six years. At present the players get 76% of the gate revenue and no financial risk.
By the way stop dreaming this season is over

If you get the chance to watch it live or on HDTV I think you would change your mind pretty quickly. I have yet to see any sport or event translate better on HDTV then hockey does.

axelcat 01-27-2005 05:34 PM

Im hoping it comes back soon

Yeah if your lucky to live in a city with a good minor team your laughing as its good hockey (some would even argue better) and your not missing out. but for the rest of us in the USA without a team nearby this blows, as we get no AHL or junior games like our Canadian counterparts.

abadfish 01-27-2005 05:47 PM

We have a WHL team here in WA state that I watch from time to time but I miss watching the Stars on tv...

I am a little pissed at the NHL and the players right now for this mess but I hope it comes back next season better then before.

And fuck all of you people saying negative things about hockey... (carmensita, etc) Why the fuck do you care? If you don't like it don't watch it but don't feel like you should bash it to people that are fans of the sport...

I played hockey from when I was 7-15 and I have watched it since... It's one of the only sports I truly am interested in...although I am coming around to basketball and football lately!

Smurfette 01-27-2005 06:38 PM

Sports are not good for your brain. Unless you go to the games. They dont have comercials.

I go to hockey games every weekend. Go long beach Ice Dogs. The NHL will never recover.

WankTank 01-27-2005 07:15 PM

A 26 game season would be a joke.

Spunky 01-27-2005 07:17 PM

It's probably belly up this year..they are shooting themselves in the foot

out of 7 games, Bakerfield won 4. Ok they are leading by 1 game but I wouldnt consider that an asskicking until the season is over. They have 2 more games against each other so it could go either way.

Vitasoy 01-27-2005 07:30 PM

I really hope so, but I doubt it.

tungsten 01-27-2005 07:31 PM

nah there is no season this year for sure, all the good players are in europe

pornstar2pac 01-27-2005 07:32 PM

don't think they will have a season till next Oct.

bret 01-27-2005 07:34 PM

I think a better poll would be "Are you an idiot or not?"

There will be no nhl games until at least 2006. And when it does come back, it will be a perverse version of what you once knew.

D Flower 01-27-2005 07:54 PM

Unfortunately....no. Oh well, hopefully next year.

flashfire 01-27-2005 08:05 PM

Nader 01-27-2005 08:09 PM

Smurfette

I thought this was to be the final year in St. John's.

Then it would move to Toronto for the 2005-2206 season.

RaGe 01-27-2005 10:14 PM

This year is done. Next year they'll have it going again..

Your comparing the Sharks to a Raiders game? Raiders fans are nuts and thats the experience. But go watch a Ranger game or a Leafs or Red Wing game and make the comparason then. Especially a playoff game in one of those buildings.
