      media edition makes no difference.
set this machine up like the others on your network.

        1) make sure some laptops have a on off switch for the internal wireless (yeah weird but some toshibas have em)
        2) make sure the router is set to broadcast for wirless..

2 common problems most people overlook..
        meh

in the control panel there is a link for 'wireless network setup wizard'..

no shouldnt make a diff most wireless cards scan for the channel... maybe the router has a the security enabled ie wep,wpa,wpa-psk...
and you need to enter the correct wireless key for it to access...

a test to see if its the laptop or not try and connect to your router from ur laptop..
                  meh

when i switched my my router setup to wep, my connection wasn't working, and i couldn't connect to my router's ip from my laptop..

this shouldn't be this hard but it is for some reason
