How about a Gfy SEO challenge?

How about a GFY SEO challenge?

5 gfy members pick a keyword. No top keywords like:
sex or porn... pick some interesting ones.

Any seo's wanna try? We can each pitch in $200 (5 of us) and the winner gets all $1000.00 and the status as "da man"

You have 21 days to get your listings. Most frontpage listings acheived ... wins. Yahoo or Google.

Who wants to play? I bet I kick all of your asses in Yahoo! :)

Challenge!

You gotto know how google works before knowing the game.

tranza 01-27-2005 09:38 AM

Many of my domains have pr5's and 1 has a pr6, but no good listings. However, I'm seeing an 85% ratio of my keywords getting on the frontpage of Yahoo.

Like I said, I wish I knew Google.

Pr is meaningless if you dont know how to utilize it. On the other hand if you know how to utilize anchors you dont even need pr. (word from the wise)

GoogleBot 01-27-2005 09:43 AM

Ray whats your ICQ. Ill give you some SEo tips.

Cyndalie 01-27-2005 09:44 AM

It's almost impossible to be fair. Once the keyword phrase is decided, whoever can get the most keyword friendly domain optimized and submitted first wins.

For example, if the keyphrase is "doughnut sex" whoever gets doughnut-sex.com and/or doughnutsex.com wins, in that short of timeframe.

google isn't all about PR, quite the opposite.
when it comes to google only one little 3 letter word counts: ***
lol... but this ain't a secret nowadays.

wrong....

Jace 01-27-2005 09:56 AM

no one would be willing to do this, for the simple fact that most of the top SEO's have secrets that get them high listings very quickly, and revealing what pages are theirs would be basically them showing the world parts of their work, and showing what they do and how they do it

i would love to see some of wiredguy's listings, but i doubt it will happen publicly

hahahaha, that is so wrong....i guarantee I could get eat-jelly.com higher than doughnut-sex.com for the term doughnut sex than most on this board could

Rui 01-27-2005 09:59 AM

This challenge is a joke..most SEO people don't have to prove nothing to nobody (like WG), plus the time used to work for something like this ain't worth $1000 for the people we are talking about ;)

chowda 01-27-2005 10:10 AM

what the point of that when ppl will know how u got that ranking and then have 10 million ppl copy u.

btw, there are competitions like these mainstream, why dont u join those?

~Ray 01-27-2005 01:06 PM

Ok.. Ok... No Joy! There, I said it.

QuaWee 01-27-2005 02:31 PM

i doubt something like this will be taken seriously. serious seo gurus would not even waste their time

DarkJedi 01-27-2005 02:35 PM

Kickass idea !!

not.

AdultNex 01-27-2005 02:35 PM

Doing Yahoo wouldn't be fair.

It's all about backlinks to the winner.
