Ntsc - Pal

My video converter wants to know how to convert the video files in NTSC or PAL...

Now what does this mean? If I use PAL settings can people from USA see that video? Can someone please explain this to me?

No, PAL is for European machines. We use NTSC here.

Good question. Though... I have a ton of movie files that are encoded in PAL and when I try to make dvd;s out of them it says they need to be in NTSC format to burn. So how do I convert them?

not an issue on the net or in a computer DVD drive.

On the other hand, most European producers are adopting ( sadly ) NTSC, because a lot of stand alone units do read and transcode NTSC.

:2 cents:

dude make it pal, you'll get a better resolution, pal is 768x576
for web, dvd, personal videos... computer related videos in general you don't care if it's pal or ntsc, everyone can see them.

all the dvd players can read ntsc plus the local system.
so, make it in ntsc , that its the standard format all over the world.

BS the stand alone ones are locked and most of the PC ones are locked after 5 times switching, yes you can unlock that but for a newbie thats not a common thing to do.

Plus NTSC isnt the worlds standard.

If you are looking for hardware, I recommend ( and own 2 ) the tenlab Pro1000.
Full feature transcoding, TBC, sync ... about $1600.00
