If you're hired into a non smoking company, then you need to be a non-smoker. I don't think they can simply decide to make a company non-smoking and penalize the existing employees.

they are obviously looking out for thier own business but, they are also getting a bit personal.

If I were a smoker I would sue them, I would definitely not quit.
