Any webmasters from Australia here?

I'm moving to Sydney and just wondering how easy is it to get some high-speed net access there. I know Optus provides high-speed cable net access. Is it good? Any DSL providers there? How long does it take to get connected?

*raises hand*

There are really only two major Broadband providers - Telstra and Optus. Telstra has by far the best coverage of the two with both DSL and Cable but they have bandwidth and download caps. Optus is uncapped but availability is limited. I use Telstra Cable here in Qld and the service is reasonable considering they pretty much have a monopoly.

theres plenty lurking around here. I think theres a some good ISP in Sydney with cable with optus being the best I think, Most Aussie webmasters seem to hang in north Sydney.

The only problem with broadband is that it drops out a lot here.

We have ADSL at home and cable at the club - our ADSL business plan is costing us abotu $2000 per month - it's spose to never drop out - but last night it did (first time ever)

As long as you are in one of the main cities you shouldn't have any problem getting broadband access.

Im in Melb and I have Optus Cable.
Its good 60% of the time, and poor the rest. But from what I hear its still cheaper and better than Telstra.

Hey I use Optus Cable, the only good thing I can say about that.....It's cheap.

I'm in the Southern part of Sydney.
