Hmmm clearing your history usually does it.

Never needed to, but guessing some sort of history killer. Hell maybe just clean your history in IE options.

If you're on IE - click Tools->Internet Options->Clear History

Should do the trick

you'd think so but it doesn't. it deletes the addresses that show up when you pull down the bar but if you type in the beginning of an address, they are still there.

Visiting illegal sites or someone else using your computer?

Do you have autocomplete turned off?

Internet options > content > autocomplete

Turn it off and clear all the forms out. There's also a spot in your registry that stores the addresses in your drop down bar. Pick one of the unique urls and search for it in regedit to fine where they're listed.

In the newer version of IE I'm almost positive it's stored in a data file rather than the registry :2 cents:

you know, in outlook you can just hit the delete key and it deletes the autofilled email address, why wouldn't they do that for IE?

I have IE 6 but I surf with Maxthon. You may be right. I know I've gone into the registry and deleted the stuff in my drop down address bar but I don't remember how long ago that was. For the dat files, I think you have to boot into dos to get them? I'm thinking they won't delete. But as usual, I may not know what the hell I'm talking about.

Holly 01-26-2005 04:36 PM

Okay, mine are here:

HKEY_CURRENT-USER > Software > Microsoft > Internet Explorer > TypedUrls

I don't know if that's what you want, anyway. Sounds like it's autocomplete that you're talking about.

You need to turn off AUTOCOMPLETE for WEB ADRESSES

Tools > Internet Options > Content > Auto Complete > Uncheck the WEB ADRESSES BOX
