Which digital still camera?
I need to buy a digital still camera for pics I can put on the web, I think 1280*1024 would be needed. I would like one as inexpensive as possible, without being of bad quality. So I dont need an exhaustive list of features, just something that clicks good pics in ordinary situations. Which one would you suggest and approx. how much would it be?

agfa has some great models, in some tests i saw some months ago do better than cannon, compaq, sony etc.

If you don't want to spend too much money, go with Epson PhotoPC 800 or 850Z. They're cheap, and the quality is pretty good.

And don't forget to buy one or more 80MB CompactFlash memory cards http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif

I just picked up the 3.2 Pixel cybershot its a tight camera does the job and its perfect for traveling. Links up to the pc via USB ports and BAM!
good to go! You guys hear about the 1 gig flash card for cameras i think it runs like 350.00 but for 1 gig of flash card space is great. |

you should get the Olympus 40404. it's about $800. it's 4.1 pixels.....if you ever want to you could print any picture that is 11x14 inches in size with pefectl clarity and no grain....plus Olympus is the only line of digital camera that I found that carries a lens with an aperature of f/1.8, which means that if you are ever in a situation where the light isn't great, it still takes good pics without camera shake and without blur...f/1.8 allows more light to enter the lens when lighting is limited....plus it has a black and white mode.....if you ever want to have Band W pics......Great camera!! Get it!

I use the Toshiba PDR-M70, it's a 3.3 mega-pixel, and it can take up to 5 minutes of video too in AVI format. It's a pretty sweet unit with loads of features. Again, as these guys have said, you get what you pay for and the PDR-M70 doesn't come all that cheap.
I also use the Kodak DC-210 plus as a backup, but they no longer make this particular model (I got the last one in Canada, hee hee). But kodak does have some new series that are very good for a good price. Check out http://www.toshiba.com and http://www.kodak.com for comparison shopping. My choice for a quick and easy camera line is the sony Mavica CD series. It has a good enough pixel rate and the best option of storage available. It uses the small 3inch cdr as its media. They can be bought for about .40 cents in bulk. I have gotten over 150 pics on one disk and didn't even fill it.
I recently sold my CD1000 and upgraded to an Olympus e-10 Dig. I wanted Manual functions. The sony is stricly AF. Spankstrocko |
