Do you also suffer from short and/or long term memory loss? (Read Here)

as most of you know, I have been having quite a bit of a problem: my memory loss.

I would speak to someone on ICQ for about 2 hours, a VERY important business conversation, and unless I write down who I was talking to and about what, there is NO way that I Would remember anything the next day.

I also see that I forgot alot of my childhood memories... my brother would tell me about an event that happened in the past and I would not know at all what he is talking about.

Smart as he is, he uses my memory loss to get a few bucks from me sometimes: I would owe him some money ,and I would pay him back, but sometimes I would forget that I paid him back and pay him again... (he is 15 and has a very good heart)

anyways... here is the important part:

I JUST CAME BACK FROM THE DOCTOR (Neurologist)

he asked me how many hours a day i work (school/computer work) and I told him that it is about 12 hours a day...

he also asked me about my eating habbits.

he compared my brain to land that was used in the 1950s...
he told me how when they tried to boost the land to give out more crops by giving it chemicals, after a few years of "super crops", the land died and couldnt produce crops anymore...

anyways, short in short he told me that I am exhausting my brain
he also told me that Memory is the FIRST thing to die on the brain. and he told me that if this lifestyle continues, that in 3-4 years I might not be able to do simple mathematical operations anymore...

he told me that the LIGHT of the computer is extremely unhealthy for my brain, as it acts as a CONSTANT stimulant.

he told me that I need to fix the fallowing:
- No more pepsi, none what so ever
- Cut it very low on chocolate
- If I am gonna spend time on the computer, to take many many breaks for the light not to get to my brain so much...
- Get some more sleep

he just told me not to excite my brain... and he also gave me 3 vitamins in order to help it relax, give it energy and something else which I already forgot...

anyways, I will start by cutting it short on pepsi and chocolate, and take further steps to improve my life...

he told me, what good is it to make money now, if you can't make any later?

just thought you guys would be interested in this...

ask persius what the real cause of memory loss is.

Just_Dave 01-25-2005 02:41 PM

you sound like me

AdultNex 01-25-2005 02:42 PM

Memory loss ocurring due to the computer monitor?

Sounds fishy to me.

Spudman 01-25-2005 02:46 PM

hey man, thats interesting stuff. i've got a real shitty memory (not quit as bad as yours :) ) but never really looked into like you so its handy to know stuff that could help sort it.

MattO 01-25-2005 02:50 PM

He sounds like a nutcase. Get a 2nd opinion, and this time ask for credentials.

BitterPen 01-25-2005 02:56 PM

I honestly have been struggling with memory issues for about 2 years... I've done my own research and found many similar examples. I need to cut out caffeine and work more on eating healthy. Sleep deprivation is a big factor for me. Good info!

Good luck. :)

not the computer, but light signals transmitted to your brain via monitors. Light signals are simply a stimulant, just like caffeine or speed

Get a real Dr dude.

EyesWideShut 01-25-2005 03:10 PM

damn that doesn't sound good at all. My memory is kinda shot as well because I used to go out to clubs every friday and saturday night and you know what goes on in those places... and going to loft parties in Manhattan is just as bad, if not worse than nightclubs :upsidedow but a rule in economics is not to cry over spilt milk. It doesn't help at all, instead I just stopped that way of life and if anything I drink every now and then. You'll be alright bro, good luck :thumbsup

Persius 01-25-2005 03:12 PM

1. what is your monitor refresh rate? is it a LCD?

2. stop masturbating excessively.....

Sounds like bs man, you're in your early 20s and he said your brain is wearing out?

TV's transmit light as well, what about the rest of the world that sits on their ass watching soaps all day long.

If you're having memory issues it's probably related to a neurological problem or a chemical imbalance, not the computer. Go see a neurologist.

triumph 01-25-2005 03:16 PM

GFY, is your problem, you should of told your doctor that you are a metro poster, and have to keep up the daily posts.

RRRED 01-25-2005 03:37 PM

I just had a vision of me graduating from high school as bdjuf was riding his big wheel... :Oh crap haha

Anyway that's totally interesting. Last years Internext show, I quit drinking coffee. I've always drank a whole pot every single day for years. Now I have an occasional espresso or something but I really DO notice a BIG difference in memory! I was always forgetting stuff... Important stuff that would not be normal to forget. I think that cutting the caffine should help you a bit.

You might also want to consider different lighting in your powder room when you're applying your hair gel. Standing there for hours in unnatural light might be doing you all sorts of damage :)

BradM 01-25-2005 03:38 PM

RRRED: Did that vision turn you on? :1orglaugh

Most likely you are having some stress issues and not getting enough sleep.
