Is there a QB as good as Marino or Elway in the NFL now ?

Why can no one in the NBA shoot and no QB in the NFL measure up with the old guys? WTF happened to modern sports? Team GMs all competing for guys with no fundamentals ?

How can you not think of Payton Manning?

Evil1 01-25-2005 11:35 AM

in 20 years, you'll be saying "why can no QB playing now measure up to <someone playing today>"

I live in Indy and see that homo all the time. People think he is fucking around when he goes into the hurry up, and when he studies plays on the sideline. That shit is what makes him great. He's not incredibly special otherwise. Certainly no elway or marino but he and mcnabb are the only 2 worth a fuck.

Its hard for me to prove talent is down in the NFL but as for the NBA just look at the olympics. Less than 5 people in the entire league can hit an open mid-range jumper.

Brady is the slighty better version of Dilfer. He isn't even Aikman. Thats right hoes Aikman was way the fuck over rated too.

There are 53 players on a team, at least 22 starters (not counting special teams). No one ever won a game on their own. EVER. If Jordan played for the clippers and never won a championship he would still be the best ever.

...and not much is asked of Brady.

You do understand the two superbowl ring's and MVP trophys pretty much has him in the hall of fame already right.. A win in 12 days means they'll be moving marino's shit in the cellar to make more room for brady.

that is my point, is it his fault that he is on a team that is good in clutch situations?

NE is made up of a solid core of players no "superstar" players.

its not his fault they win. and NE will be a dynasty and maybe the team of the decade if they win this year also.

and the MVP of a dynasty should be considered as a great imo.

There's a guy by the name of Tom Brady in the NFL. Ever hear of him?

In all pro-sports, player's skill level, size, speed, and understanding of the game is dramatically different than before along with the rules of the game. Its impossible to compare raw stats and say one player is better than another like this. Talk all you want, but nothing is ever going to be equal when you look at a guy playing 20-30+ years ago vs. a guy playing now.

ArkansasDave 01-25-2005 12:49 PM

Brady's a clutch player

Strife 01-25-2005 12:53 PM

It's the era of the running backs.

It all depends on your definition of a "great player" I believe Brett Favre is the best in the NFL now because I think wherever he played, his skill level would be the same...i think you can pop just about any starting QB into the Pats and they will still be just as good because they have all aspects of the game covered..which makes Bradys job cake ..but if you take Brady and pop him into say, the Steelers or Jets, he wouldnt be as good....imo :2 cents:

Revolver 01-25-2005 02:27 PM

Manning doesn't suck in the playoffs...he just can't beat the Patriots.

McNabb sucks. Culpepper was doing well this year, considering all the vikings have is a passing game. Brady was born for the offense that the Patriots run, but he is smart as fuck and damn good.

JerseyPuma 01-25-2005 02:43 PM

All you people talking shit about Brady are obviously very misguided. In sports, there are talkented players and not as talented players, and there are winners and losers. Nobody disputes that Peyton Manning and Dan Marino are/were talented players. But there is NO disputing that theyre both fuckin losers. Peyton Manning? 0-4 in college vs. the Gators. Marino? Records up the ass, no rings. Brady and Elway. Talented winners. However, it took Elway a while to make this happen in his career. Manning could still do it. Marino is a piece of shit though. In my mind Brady has already proven to me that he is the better team leader, and in as much, the better QB.

DaddysGirl 01-25-2005 02:59 PM

you are only as good as your supporting cast! Brady has had an amazing crew around him, which makes him look great....OL & receivers can make QBs look really bad or really good.....Im not saying Brady isnt good, but he isnt the best....imo

I would love to see him come to the Dolphins, then how Great would everyone think he is when he is behind a subpar OL with ok recievers....??

Kard63 01-25-2005 03:14 PM

Marino or Elway could come out of retirement this week, rusty and old, and win the superbowl with New England.
