Google may as well drop into the browser market.
Strategically it makes complete sense.

yep, it looks like that's their plan. they may as well put their 100 000 servers to good use!

pxxx 01-25-2005 12:36 AM

I think it could be the best browser if google was to release one.

austinth 01-25-2005 12:44 AM

with all the phd's that google has working for them, I'm sure it would be very impressive.

Well just to add to create thought I have always thought search engines were backwards.

I always thought that people should have there own software that searches the net rather than a central SE website. I am willing to bet google is thinking something similer.

Yes and with advanced personally configurable / filtered / geo targeted searches it would be a very popular tool that would steal a huge march on the other big search engines out there.

Looks like his hard-work paid up.

Anyway I'm more interested in the results of Firefox itself rather than a potencial "google browser", specially since Firefox already has a search form with google as default.

I am trying to remember, wasn't Google the ones that came out with a new free email program, and wasn't it essentially reading all your email so they knew what kind of ads to show you?

What do you think they will do as your browser?

Good point BadDog there is no way they will release anything unless they can track you and I don't like that one bit.

I think they will create an entirely new genre of tracking.

There are so many things wrong with this scenario.

You may not believe this, but I wrote an entire Orwellian essay on why this wasn't a good thing, but deleted it thinking people would not be able to handle the truth . . . . or they would think I was just an old man rambling. :pimp

xclusive 01-25-2005 07:42 AM

Hey your not that old and I don't think you are rambling either people say microsoft this microsoft that but google is a million times more intrusive.
