Well if you can't design yourself it isnt a bad idea to hire someone. Ive seen some pretty good design sites lately with very decent prices. Invest some now and you'll probaly get more back then when you make your own design.

There is no space between the paragraphs which makes it hard to read. Numerous spelling errors & punctuation errors. Background is a little too busy (a censored pic would be better). Interesting use of a banner instead of a logo.
