Alien vs Predator DVD....Not as bad as I thought
Finally saw AVP. Several of you GFYers praised it when it was in the theatres but I futzed around and waited til it came out on DVD.
Shoulda listened and gone and seen it on the big screen! It's not that bad at all. Sure it's got a few, a few, plot points ( Like how does the heroine run around in the freezing antarctic without any gear and not freeze to death ) but the action and the real stars, the Alien and the Predators steal the show. All in all a good old fashioned Saturday afternoon monster movie. The DVD doesn't have special behind the scenes features though. |
I'll be watching it later nice way to sit out a snow storm
|
i thought it sucked
|
Was about to rent it online...I will post back with my :2 cents: after watching
|
I saw it last weekend on DVD as I'm with you on missing it at the theater. I thought the best part of the movie was it's "open ending." Be ready for AVP2!

Nico-T,
I've gotta agree with you. It really isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Much better than Alien IV and Alien III. Somewhere the franchise got off track. It's going on 25 years of this movie franchise with the two coolest monsters to come out since Godzilla and The Blob. It's funny but good monsters are like always 30 years apart. First there's Frankenstein, Wolf Man, Dracula, Mummy, Kong, then 25 years later comes The Blob, Godzilla, then 25 years later Alien then a few years later Predator. We need a new monster but for my money the Alien takes the cake as the scariest monster of all. |
Everyone was bashing this flick! but I liked it! Some of the fight scenes were very cool! :thumbsup
I don't think it will win any Oscars, but it was a fun flick! |
I thought the movie was awesome. Can't wait for part 2

Bucklover, exactly.
I am so surprised that it was technically, very high end. The special effects, and makeup and the direction were all pretty top knotch. Everything was way above average. The only thing that bothered me about it was the lack of character developement. That indeed was cheap. In Alien I & II, and a little bit of III, the writing and direction actually introduced characters of depth so that when the monster showed up you felt the danger and loss and suspense. In Aliens III and IV and AVP the characters were just there to be eaten. No loss, no suspense. As as said earlier, this wasn't a scary movie. Only one or two human characters were of worth. Yet the Alien and Predator had MORE this go around that built up them as more of an interest. Especially the Predator. The Predator movies are ALL awesome. Predator I and II were just awesome and AVP added more to their story so I can't wait for more sequels. |
i thought is was over hyped, the plot blew ass, and they couldve done a hell of alot more with both sides, the effects were ok, but not worth buying my 2 cents

It doesn't come out here until the 25th and I can hardly wait. I have been waiting 15+ years for something like this to happen. THe closest thing before was the 4 part graphic novel from Dark Horse that pitted them together on a remote planet that humans where using as a farming colony. THat was in the early 90's and they alluded to this movie. Of course there have also been rumors about it. Licensing I hear was the biggest problem.
