for something with decent quality that you'll actually take with you everywhere you go, I recommend the Canon Digital Elphs (IXUS Line).

I got my girlfriend the Canon SD300 and she loves it. If you're looking for a subcompact it's definitely your best choice.

I just picked up an HP R607 for trade shows.. its a 4.1MP that fits in your pocket and has great battery life. I would call it 'decent', I'm used to my Nikon D100 for quality (but its too big to carry around on a vacation)

i just got a kodak easyshare cx7300

small, good quality and has that cool dock where you can print photos straight from the camera
