Official Statement: Regarding Gallery Traffic Services
 

Drinkinghard (Mark), I tried to avoid this thread, but after thinking long and hard about it. Plus seeing how I only have a handful of people who "actually" know me and can deny claims of me being this "theif" and "sheister" you are painting me to be....

I had to allocate special time to gather the necessaries to defend myself in this court of our business peers.

Me and you did business for several months.
Over that time a friendship was created.

People say business and friendship don't mix, I disagree...
I'd like to consider myself friends with most if not all my business associates...

But this is a situation of business and a personal friendship crossing lines, and causing confusion...

DH blasted me on here yesterday saying I owed him $1500..
Well here is what really happened....


We did business on cash upfront basis for a few months...

IN THAT TIME...
I purchased a package (I will not say what package as to not drag in that site owners name or site reputation)

I got horrible results from it....
Low traffic, No sales....

I contacted a sales rep, at GTS about my poor results, and the reply I got was basically
"That sucks man"
in return...

I then made a post on GFY stating that I had paid for some gallery traffic and received a package of poo poo in return...

I didn't state who it was, because I was friends with DH..
and didn't want to hurt his business or professional friendship in any way

DH icq'd me the next day angrily and pissed off because he felt I had hinted that it was gallery traffic services who had sold me a bad package.

He told me that he was especially pissed because we were FRIENDS, and that I should have come to him about it, he then stated that if I ever had another problem with a package that he would "take care of it" / "fix it". And not to make posts like that because people would put 2 and 2 together...

He then refunded me for that package

I apologized for making the post....
and in an effort to smooth things out for his business interest "gallerytrafficservices.com", I even changed my sig to promote GTS and endorsed them in the thread as a good source to by gallery spots from....

*Hell why wouldn't I seeing as how we were friends and he refunded my money from the bad package, and told me that he would take care of me if it happened again*


But when packages turned to poo again on me...
I owe him $1500 he says...

He has forgotten his "fix it" statement...
He has forgotten his friendly "I'll take care ot it" statement...

My friend OWNS the car dealership, he assured me that if anything went wrong with the car he sold me, that he'd handled it...

I paid a car note for 4 months, drove the car for 4 months.
But on the 5th month..
my car broke down......

Do I owe him that 5th months car payment?

Now factor in his "I'll take care" of it statement of the past and his
"I'll fix it statement of the past"

Oh and for anybody doubting the validity of my statement...

it's just my opinion but...

you buy traffic... if it sucks, you learn and move on to another site... there's no refund on a surfer that's visited you... UNLESS you can prove it was nothing more than hitbot or foreign or what have you.

Unfortunately.... GTS can't guarantee that they'll send you great conversions... they just guarantee that you'll get the listing on the site that you pay for.

The first time he refunded you he was being nice, and you're right, he let friendship interfere with the relationship. He NEVER should have refunded you, but maybe offer some other spots at a discount.

Your logic is weak. You buy advertising, you pay for it regardless of the results. The purpose of advertising is shifting the risk and reward to others. That risk and reward was purchased by you.

Let me ask you a question. You have obviously had successful campaigns with GTS. Have you ever kicked up a little extra to Mark and the sites you purchased advertising from?

Hmm... and you are 100% sure its the "package" you bought that was defective, and not your marketing towards that traffic? Impossible to say you are sure, so you pay for it.

I'm doing business with Mark & GTS. I have complete conifdence in his integrity and great respect for his company's success.

I've bought a ton of advertising in my 20 years in this business. Some works, some doesn't. I've bought TV spots that did unreal results, and some that did squat.

That's advertising. I've never once asked for a refund in all those years. That was my media buy decision, I recognize every buy is a complete gamble, and I live with the results take my profits or loss and continue or move on.

Mark is going to be assisting us with sales on my projects and I know he values the importance of our deal and how much it will help his company to expand.

I also demand that no fewer than 50% of those people buy what ever it is I offer to sell them.

Should they not, then I won't pay for it.

I *might* say sorry for taking away all that traffic from your site and not compensating you for it... but probably not.

I don't know how you can blame GTS, or expect them to do anything about the results.

You bought advertising. If your banner or gallery or whatever was put up as promised the responsibility then transfers to you.

I'll put my comments in here since I've boughts tons of paid spots from search engines and paid gallery spots, including GTS. You're buying a placement, there is absolutely no guarantee's of any sales or returns for that matter. I've had mixed reviews of GTS, some campaigns were very profitable, some brought in not a single join. It really depends on so many factors that its very difficult to predict how well something will do. But in the end, GTS is just brokering the transactions and if Mark even offered you a refund, consider yourself lucky. A bad buy is not GTS' fault, but a combination of factors. I'd just absorb the losses and move on to a different site...

I don't get involved in DH's threads and he is away for the weekend so he wont be able to comment on this till Sunday probably and this is between you two.

I will say this though, We sell paid listings on TGP/MGP's we don't sell sales or CTR and clicks to your join pages that is the job of the advertiser. Do I want you to have a positive campaign, make money and renew month after month.. of course I do. Our percentage of renewing customers is huge..many buyers have spots on every single site we have spending over 10-15K month after month with great success.
When someone has a bad campaign it does suck..but what else can we say about it? . We can't force surfers to click galleries and buy.

The bottom line is we wont/can't make everyone happy.. we try as best we can, some buyers will have bad campaigns but most don't.

Surely you know there are no guarantees when purchasing traffic. Whether or not the traffic from the gallery spots converted, or whether or not it was the amount of traffic you expected, is irrelevant here. You paid for gallery spots and GTS delivered. To expect a refund, or not pay because you did not get the results you expected is outrageous and totally unprofessional.

In this case Lantern you are wrong. You bought a package, traffic was delivered each day as was per the package you bought. Both the TGP and GTS fufilled their end of the bargain. Its then up to you to convert it.

If it doesnt convert, you cancel your package for the next month and try something else. Its really that simple. DH shouldnt have offered you a refund at all. At most if you had 10 days left in the month, maybe cancel your spots for the rest of the month and refund you for that.

DH has every right in this case to ask for the money owed.

Its always a shame to see this sort of storys, but did you get the TRAFFIC you paid for, not talking about results since that is a whole different thing?...

Producing is your job.. The only time it might not be your fault is when they have a new tgp.. the price structure will sometime change depending on overall results/renewals... And even then.. I took the losses... you win some.. you lose some..

As for DH fixing it.. you should have asked him to fix it after 5-10 days of bad results... NOT 30 DAYS !! lol...

for those circumstances, you usually have some type of warranty in writing that protects both the buyer and seller.

in your case, there were no guarantee's on conversions or sales so i dont understand your logic.

back in 2002 i had bought a text link ad on consumption junction for $750...i ended up grossing like $250 total....i don't blame CJ for that - no question i got the traffic but it didn't convert well enough. it always sucks having ad campaigns that lose $ but that's business.

I wish I could get a refund every time one of my print or web ads didn't pay off. That would take all the risk out of running a business.

I know Mark personally and today he is not around to defend himself. I have done business with GTS and always got exactly what I paid for. Gallery placements. It's YOUR job to do the selling not GTS's.

I owed DH 75 bucks for a spot and he sent the russian mob to my house and they made me eat poop and read poetry to them. Pay up or he'll do the same to you!!

This is a perfect example of why friendship and business don't mix well. You've let "friendship" or "buddies doing for buddies" cloud you evaluation of this. The bottom line, in a court of law, you bought traffic, received traffic and have to pay for it. End of story. You may try and twist around it based on "buddy" or "friendship" but based on contract law you'll end up paying.. So pay for what you received.
