Anyone Remember PLATINUM LANTERN??? DRAAAAAMA!
 

Well this guy used to buy advertising from us and was what I would consider a pretty good friend in the industry. Anyways I would cover the advertising costs for him on most of his advertising campaigns with us, he would basically send us a cheque every 6 weeks or so... Anyways this "friend" one day decided to take off and stick me with the bill. No goodbyes nothing...

Anyways we sent his debt to collections and I get an icq message today from his ICQ from his "business partner". Well apparently my collections agency is getting underneath their skin and his partner says that Platinum Lantern thinks I should just write off his bad debt because his last campaign with us wasn't successful? LOL!

This is a guy who used to brag to me how much money he was making off his black galleries and how he wanted to buy more and more. Anyways I told him and his partner to basically get fucked and pay the bill.

Just wanted to remind people never to extend too much credit to anyone, even if you think it's a surefire thing. I thought Kareem was an awesome guy, I even sent him down several Steak Packages as a thank you for his business. Never thought one day he would stiff me...

Anyways it's $1500 so big deal but it's $1500 I had to pay out of my own pocket. My site owners get paid no matter what, not their fault if a buyer fucks us over.

Anyways just my rant for the day... ;)

I can only think of 1 or 2 young people I've met in this industry that had any business sense at all.

"Good clients" usually get special allowances. In a similar situation, I probably would have done the same.

Write it off as a cost of doing business! Everyone wakes up with a wider asshole every now and then.

that's funny that you say you liked him. In the ebony niche he's not very well liked at all. In fact he's hated by most of the ebony niche. He even changed his name. From Platinum Lantern to Cocoa Crispies.

I stand neutral. He has never done anything to me. But I know a lot of people don't like him.

You need to have that collections agency, do some collecting.
I'm sure he has a few nice things at his house, that'll make up nicely for the 1,500.

I understand why you extended this courtesy, Mark..and it never feels good when it bites you in the proverbial ass....

A relationship builds, so the credit courtesy is given....most of the time it works out and everyone gets paid....

Until it doesn't work out.

Only thing I remember about that guy was he was always on the boards trying to get people to bet him on games even up when the line had him favored significantly.

I agree sometimes I am a bit too trusting with people when I do business. I always try and give people the benefit of the doubt, I don't like the attitude "Well this guy fucked me over so everyone else will too!" I don't buy into that attitude, you take the good with the bad. I'm a big believer in Karma and I believe karma will come back to bite Platinum Lantern in the ass.

That sux bro. I've been stiffed on advertising bills before and what's just as bad as not getting paid is the time taken trying to get paid by these bums. Too many losers out there spend more than they can afford.

I remember back in the old netpond days he would try to rip into me for no fucking reason saying that I was bringing the whole black niche down and that I ALONE would be the reason that other companies wouldn't want to start Ebony sites. That would mean that Nasty Dollars would look at me and say, "Because of BVF, we're not going to start Round n Brown"...

I didn't even know this cat at all. I would have never heard of him had he not confronted me on Netpond.

I love to see how shit comes back around. All of that bragging about money and can't even pay $1,500 for some advertising.
