"let us pray" during an inauguration?

Is that normal? What's with the reglious stuff during a political time? I thought that religion and politics were supposed to be separate?

I feel like I'm watching some televangelist.... will there be a commercial with a donation 1-800 number after?

Evil1 01-20-2005 09:46 AM

I'd rather have them praying then what they seem to be refering to as singing, fuck!

tungsten 01-20-2005 09:48 AM

"retarted" heh

Whether we like it or not, this country was first colonized by religious zealots who were so uptight that Great Britain kicked them out. Think about that one. :(

Remember, the law doesn't apply to any President unless he's getting blown in the Oval Office. :error

Gotta love a two-party system. I can only hope that one day people will wake up and shake the fleece off.

We were founded on freedom of reliogion because they were persecuted for their beliefs. Not so that they could push their religion on others.

Freedom of religion should mean any religion. However, let's be real. In the US, "freedom" of religion extends only to those of a Christian faith. Otherwise, the US doesn't give a ripe fuck.

:disgust

XxXotic 01-20-2005 10:35 AM

"seperation of church and state" ONLY applies to there not being a NATIONAL religion, has nothing to do with keeping religion out of politics or out of the classroom. It only means that we, as a nation will not implement one religion as the "american religion" but we will have tolerance for all.

didn't any of you people pay attention in 3rd grade?

:thumbsup I love it when the goverment or the media is always saying that the problems in the middle east are all because of "religious extremists". That's terrible and must be stopped, but when "religious extremists" put Bush in the White House for another four years, that's okay?

Things that make you go hmmm....

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 01-20-2005 10:40 AM

"didn't any of you people pay attention in 3rd grade?"

Of course why do you think there are so many questions about this presidency?
Bush is a fraud, and certifiable nut case.
