possible to have different class c ip's on same server?

hi

does anyone know if it is possible to have say 32 different ip's on a dedicated server but in say 4 different class c blocks?

any advice appreciated

I think you would have a hard time getting them from a single host..

hmm not sure..but i think it an be done

fatbaby 01-20-2005 07:06 AM

There is absolutely no reason it can not be done... its simply limited to the blocks that any given host has available....

thanks for your responses, i'll ask around and get some prices.

It's possible, but it's simply not lucrative for a single host to do it.

SplitInfinity can do that for you. Contact me on ICQ or AIM.... 64791506 or NJesterIII

Or my cell 619-227-8845

Just order a server right now and tell me your account info and I will hook you up. Pick a plan DS02 or higher.

We can probably help you with that. If you want, visit our site and have a chat with a sales rep. I am sure we can make some sort of arrangements to set you up with the IPs you need. You didn't list the server specs you would require, so if you can, give us an idea of what type of solution you would need to host these IPs on.

In the meantime, here are a few of our current 10 Mbs unmetered plans:

It is possible. Your host could have 4 /29 routed to a box in different Class C's. Most providers won't want to break up addresses like this unless you make it worth their while.

That is correct.

thanks for all the replies, when i am ready i'll be in touch. i have one other question, does anyone know if it is possible to setup say 4 different pairs of nameservers also on one dedicated server?

e.g.
ns1.domain.com
ns2.domain.com
ns1.domain2.com
ns2.domain2.com etc.

thanks in advance

Yup. You can have different domains answer for different nameservers on the same box. However, remember that DNS is best when redundancy and network availability are kept in mind. Housing them on 1 box is good for "non traditional" activities, but for little else.

smashface 02-25-2005 10:47 AM

It is possible, but Im not sure if the RFC describes needing reverse dns setup for the IP addresses for the nameservers.

I know many hosting companies providing shared/reseller hosting share the IP addresses anyway.
