Vonage vs. Skype

which should I use to make international phone calls from my laptop? I noticed when I call internationally via Skype there is a half second delay and uncomfortable pauses one waiting for responses etc.. Is this the same way with Vonage?

they may be very different, but I do know one thing they share in common , and that is , you can call to any telephone number in the world from the Internet using your computer.

If the Vonage setup is anything like the Digital Phone setup I have through my Cable company...you don't need a PC.

That's what I meant when I asked the question. They might serve the same purpose, but I'm not sure that they're on in the same.

I have not used Skype but I do use Vonage. In fact...When you and I spoke last, that was an International call on a Vonage line and it was crystal clear with no lag time.

If you are going to sign up for vonage, can you do it here? http://tech-geeks.org/tiny.php?url=3347

One of the nice things about Skype is the messages are encrypted, whereas the Vonage calls are in the clear, the second or so of lag is dependent on the speed of your connection and the computer plugged in.

Testing both, I like Skype, but having a phone number that follows you wherever you have a highspeed connection like Vonage is also great.

Nothing better than a week in London, with a Chicago number and your friends and business associates are calling you nearly for free. :thumbsup
